    LG 50PX990-ZA Vertical Black Lines

    Hi all,

I have an LG 50PX990-ZA plasma TV and a few months ago i noticed a single black line from top to bottom of the screen and then this week, this is now 3 individual black lines. I have attached pictures to help show the problem. They're not horrendous but once you know they're there they annoy you!!

Any help or advice would be great.

Thought that'd be the case damn.

Will it only get worse then?

It looks like one particular COF chip is failing, so yes unfortunately it is only likely to get worse. Although if it's any consolation it'll likely stay around that area.

Definitely nothing to lose. Can you pin point me in the direction of where I need to apply heat?

With the other guys saying it's a failing chip / panel I assumed it's irreparable?

Essentially there's a bunch of chips bonded along the bottom of the panel - they're the address drivers.

If you can get the front bezel off the TV while it's on the stand you might be able to do this. *Might.*

Generally I'd say these are not repairable when they fail but I have heard of people heat gunning them and getting a few months out of them.

Ah ok. I won't bother then I guess. Bought a new TV now anyway so i'll just give this one away.

                    Thanks for your help guys.
