    Samsung plasma

Sorry. I don't know the model number yet.
Does this look like a panel problem?

    Re: Samsung plasma

Either bad panel or loose/dirty ribbon cables.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

        Re: Samsung plasma

Again $50 is not much but you need to know the model name so you can find the production date.

            Malachi,
Not worth it, don't do it. As a rule of thumb just don't buy a tv with lines in it. Not worth the risk. Search craigslist and you will find plenty of better deals with better symptoms.

Not in the Craigslist in Columbus. I look every 15 minutes. I'm addicted.
That's the best deal. People have used 32" lcd listed for $200.
              They are unrealistic.

Btw the lg zsus board you fixed for me worked perfectly. Sold it for $50 on eBay yesterday.
              I lost. I know.

Well I guess if the parts have descent value, you could make your money back on it by selling on ebay, just might take a while to sell them. Are the lines static? Do they go away after a while?

It's funny , the lines appear over the whole tv. Could be a lot of dust causing these symptoms. I had that with a Panasonic once

Did you get the tv or did you pass on it? I do the same thing myself cause I like to work on stuff. Then I buy stuff I shouldn't be buying cause they have a weird problem. Well then you end up like me with about 8 non working tv's and sometimes never knowing if I can fix them. Then I start bothering everybody on the forum for help. It sure is nice to buy one that needs $10.00 worth of caps and you are done!!! I have Samsung 50" that I will be starting a new thread. I have to take pictures first, but its a weird one. Good luck

Probably a wise choice!!! Those are the ones you dont pass up if they were giving it to you, but how often does that happen.

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                                by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                                tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
                                by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

I came across a 50inch TU8000 that wouldnt start up properly (blinking stand-by light, backlights would cycle on and off).

When i opened it up and removed the power to the mainboard the backlights powered up and everything looked uniform.
When reconnected the mainboard but disconnected the flex cable to the panel i heard the TV startup with the intro sound.

Later I checked for shorts on the panel PCB boards but could not find anything.
When I took a look with the FLIR i noticed the 2 resistors...
