    Technika LCD26-209

Another of Vestel's finest that i've been given. I can almost hear the groaning.

Loads of leaking and bloated caps in the 17PW26-3 PSU which i replaced.
I replaced all of the samxon and tested the four remaining HEC caps with my ECR meter and they were fine.

I powered on the TV and was greeted by a blue screen with a compressed coloured band at the top. After about 5 seconds the line scans down, appears at the top the does it again.

As it warms up the line disappears and slowly the refresh rate speeds up to a perfect picture.

I appologise for the dropbox links, i don't have a youtube account.

I've been over with a hairdryer and warmed each bit up (maybe i missed something) but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any ideas what i'm missing ?
    Thanks.

I thought so too initially , but give it 10 minutes to warm up and the picture is perfect.

There are chips mounted on the side of the screen and along the top , try heating and cooling the one that corresponds to where you have the black line ..

Cheers Michael, the black line seemed to scan down the screen refreshing the screen as i moved. I'll have a look for those chips.

It was the last 4 HEC capacitors. They all have a low esr and are within spec, but i replaced them and the image issue has gone away.

I didn't take any photos but i've circled on a borrowed image. It was a 17PW26-3 and it is the three 1000uf 35v and one 2200uf 6.3v. I'm blaming you Reecey lol, i remember from one of your videos where you say HEC are ok
                    They measure

                    2135uf 0.04ohms

Maybe it wasn't these and it was the tab bonds that got disturbed but it seemed to be a heat issue that took about 10 minutes each time to occur from cold.

the cheap - as in under $xxx testers cant check ripple current.
that's an important figure in psu caps.
