Hands On with The 17PW07-2 Power Board

Hello everyone. I am Chris and this is the first time I have asked for assistance from BadCaps.Net

I can usually find the information in the forums but on this occasion I've drawn a blank.

    The Problem...

The TV is a Toshiba 32BL502b which contains the power board 17PW07-2 which I assume is manufactured by Vestel.

When plugged in for the first time everything was as normal, but once put into standby the tv would not revive.

I have tried unplugging for a few hours and there is no change.
If I unplug from the mains and keep trying sometimes I get power on green light, and others no light at all.

The board is receiving power 240VAC and there is signs of DC power travelling through various points elsewhere.

Please could someone just guide me through the tracing of common startup faults. I own and can use a multimeter.

By the time I receive a response I should have removed the boards to identify all of the pins on connector sockets.

    Thanks
    Chris

Checked the output diodes for S/C ?

I can only see two sets of rectifiers, all diodes test correctly. Does anybody happen to know of a place i could get some schematics for this board?

Ok. I have the schematic for this board and i have encountered a no standby voltage.
The radial fuses at ACin (PL101) are not blown. There are two voltages for standby, 5v & 4.25v (according to the pins of PL205 - power to logic) Am i correct in stating that the IC302 is responsible for sending power-on signal?

Start up capacitor would be my first guess if you cant locate it upload a clear picture of your board and we will point it out as a quick test heat your power supply with a hair dryer etc for about three minutes i guess does the tv now start up?

Here is a picture of my board. Just for future reference.
Also attached is the schematics for this board.

Ok, few more points, heating the board up does not make any difference. However, the touch sensitive buttons on the front panel react with a beep as normal when they are touched, still no standby light, or voltage.

Have you checked all the devices like diodes and transistors for S/C ?

I have tested the diodes and FETs in circuit, they do not measure S/C as expected, but i am going to cut a leg of each of the 6 output diodes and supply some resistance measurements correctly although I fail to believe that the problem is here at such a late stage of the circuitry. The FETs I shall remove completely.

Do you have a voltage across C103 ? as its very common on these boards for Q201 and Q202 to go short circuit also you should be aware the led on the front of the set is a common fault on vestel sets and usually goes open circuit.

Hi Michael, I think my eyes are failing as I cant seem to locate C103 on board or the schematics.

You can test transistors in circuit btw they will always either be shorted or have very low ohms if failed.

Its the main reservoir cap in the middle of the board.
Have a look at charles hyde website it says whats in the kit for £22.20 or £9.99 e bay .

OK, all do not show s/c however i have come across R338 from hot to cold side, this tests O/C. Again, i cant see how this can be the problem, but never the less, its getting changed. i am also suspicious of IC300 and IC302

Next update, under load, C101 and C103 show 60VDC charging, Q201 shows 60VDC at the gate but the Q202 shows 0.0odd. We are getting somewhere (again)
