Anyway I know my Q661 (RJP63G4) is faulty which was not included in the repair kit. You said you bought ones from China. Are they reliable or any issues so far? Or would there be any substitute IGBT's for this from RS Components?
No issue from UTSOURCE. TV still working. So did you know Q661 was shorted before you started with the kit?

optocoupler. The small white box could have a toshiba marking TL..... on top

does not mean that's the problem on this either. I thought you were getting a whole board?

Found nothing spectacular about those tiny FETs, IC921 I have not found any kits or anyone replacing that yet. Was considering borrowing one off another working board.

Anyway < I went back to the opto and probed it in diode and got a reading of 1.6 in both directions, thought that was sus, grab a few other boards and got different results say 1.6 and 0.7.

Pulled it off and no reading either direction, another I had had no reading and 1.4. I'm probing the diode side.

So I reached the conclusion the opto was dead, pilfered off a dead board, now getting 1.4 & 1.6, replaced the usual suspects rjp63G4 & 30F131 that kept blowing and it's back online.

too soon to say it's fixed but maybe the opto was flaky and finally quit. i hope so because I really want this board fixed as a spare.

I guess if I get more than a day out of this things will be looking good as both attempts that failed, worked ok and then failed at startup after a good run. 6 blinks.

Too, rare, Too expensive to find and fewer components than a 5081 was enough motivation. Besides, I have 2 tvs that use this board.

I think this will be on the rare side as far as failure goes and I'm somewhat suspicious but I am surprised I've fluked another one.

Like i said, I've found nothing mentioned or any kits specific for Q621-623 failing

I'm having trouble tying in what is blowing , and what the kits have and what Tom is suggesting and your suggestions.

Q661 and Q621,622,623 are going out to lunch together. Q401,402,403,421,422,423 are ok,

    IC502 drives Q531,Q441,442

    IC501 drives Q501,401,402,403

    all resistors checkout

with the C08N25 (Q600) is there any sign it's bad or what? Not shorted, maybe I should pull it out I do have 2 new ones just in case.

What about a bad Y cap ? I had an Lg42Pg6000 blowing the fets which were 30F131 and it was due to a failed Y cap that I think was in parallel with fets and GND. It was odd as it worked for a while then boom ! The Y cap had leakage across it so and I guess was causing a short between the fets and GND causing them to pop ? Just a suggestion to check them if there are any on this board.

I doubt this is caused by an electrolytic going bad. More likely if it's giving 6 blinks it's an ER circuit problem, so check the gate driver for the ER circuit. If that's bad that could cause this failure.

Not sure, it could be blowing at shutdown

This is how it went last time, worked fine for the night, turned off, next day went pop at startup.

    Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

    Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
    by Alicat
    Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

    Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

    Panasonic Plasma ST50 TC-P55ST50 P55ST50 8 blinks
    by nick31
    Hello,
My Oct 2012 panny plasma quit working yesterday.
It was on when it happened. It let out a bit of burned plastic/circuit board smell. I was not able to find any burned parts though.
Now it produces 8 blinks. According to the repair manual, that points to SS/SS2 board(s).
I completed the steps in the guide: unplugged SS33, the TV turned on with a black screen, no blinking codes. Then I checked the continuity between pins 1 and 2 of the connectors SS52, SS54-SS57. The continuity is ok in all of them. Guide suggests to replace SS/SS2 boards so I placed an order...

    Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
For my passion for technology I'm now collecting several...

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
    by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...
