I have a friend coming to visit later this week from out of state. He's got an early Sonly LED Smart TV around 5 years old with the issue shown in the pictures I've attached. I didn't get a complete sets of pictures of the boards from him but just wanted some opinions on the problem. Anyone got a consensus on main, t-con, or panel? I'm thinking probably main board which is extremely expensive and almost impossible to find. The sharp t-con is also pricey but not quite as bad ($100 or so). Seems like the TV is worth spending some money on if it's appears to be fixable. Thanks in advance as always for the help!

Re: Sony KDL-52NX800
Thought I'd bump this one more time in hopes that someone has seen a similar issue. He's been hanging on to the TV. Hate to tell him to trash it as I'm almost certain it's not the panel. On the other hand, I hate to have him throw money at a t-con if it may be a bad main board.
Thanks again for any input.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-52NX800
You might try heating the tcon or main board with a hair dyer and see if it changes the display at all. The regularity of the pattern would seem to indicate more of a board issue than a panel problem, imo.
I would suggest looking thru this

as the sticky provides good information on how to go about things. My guess is a "troubled tcon".Last edited by budwich; 02-08-2016, 12:59 PM.Comment

Re: Sony KDL-52NX800
Thought I'd follow up on this and let everyone know that it was indeed the T-con. The problem persisted with either side unhooked so I figured it was worth a shot. He had to order it from China and it was $110 but a damn nice TV for that price. He paid nothing up front for the set.Comment

by advantThis thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.
I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match... -
by Daren87Hello everyone,
I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the... -
by thelankanguyThe TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?... -
by cheeky2For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...01-08-2024, 05:56 AM -
by bbrainHi,
I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.
Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?
Thanks in advance!... - Loading...
