    LG 50PS3000 A weird one....

This full HD Plasma set has an oddball fault.

It will have a perfect picture, then a single line would appear at random places on the upper half of the picture.
The line would be fully white or a shade of grey, and the full length of the screen.

Then the top half of the picture--would completely disappear. The line however would bounce around randomly, sometimes disappearing leaving a black upper half....

I had recently scrapped the same model set that had a couple of issues, the main one and reason for scrapping--was a few dead pixel lines running fully vertically--COF chip/panel issue.

--It also had a condition where every other horizontal line of pixels wasn't driven/working, giving the effect of an old CRT set where clearly observable scan-lines are present, and an occasional vertical double image with vertical bounce.

So--Back to the faulty set. First I replace the Y-Buffers.
Still the same. Checked all the multi-way ribbons, all good.

Then goes the Control-Board. No different, Still half a picture, line bobbing about in the black half.

Then I change the Mainboard--because I had one there. No change.

    OK--Changed the Y-SUS.....

Ah--Now we have a change, Full screen, but every other line missing, and double-image with bounce (just as it was from the scrapped donor set)

It appears, the address info on both these Y-SUS has issues, all be it of a different nature.
There appears to be three sets of chips which are responsible for the address/clock info on the Y that eventually end up at the Y-Buffer boards.....

Ive not determined--Yet--which chip is causing the issues....

It's a shame because these sets are built quite well but it appears that LG did not complete the right reliability engineering process. Most of the components are decent quality.

I would suggest one of the logic inverter ICs or the data isolators on the Y-sustain may have failed or be intermittent. That would be an unusual failure though.

Aye-- A strange one. Probably a bad batch of chips, as both these Y boards have address issues--all be it different in nature, I'll have to see if the batch numbers, (if the chips have any) are the same on both boards.....

--Never had any issues before where the Y-Buffer address/clock/data has been a problem....

HP Omen LED 4k display strange red areas and half a line of scratch like
          by questore
          Hi Everyone,

I have brought to you a strange problem display maybe you have some ideas how it can be fixed or what could cause such a problem.
          Display Type: B173ZAN01.1
          MANUFACTURER: AU Optrinics
          H/W:0A F/W:1

Changed the cable and tried to bend, push the back f the screen and both problem persists, nothing changes.
There is no any sign that the back of the screen was under pressure, or has moving cables.

PROBLEM 1:. Red spots / area in the screen
MORE INFO: If i gently press above the problematic area then it disappears until...

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
          by cubytus
          Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

          Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
          by TrueSword88
          Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

          Hoping to fix...

TD Systems K50DLG12US half black and half white screen
          by Raulnn
good night! I have this screen that looks half black and half white. the tcon gives a low vgh value (5-6v). the rest seem fine. I first removed the flex from one half of the panel and then the other. Removing the left, vgh increases it to 25-26v. I think the problem is in that area, but there are not many elements on the integrated controller board. there are no shorted capacitors. could they be a cof? Some help?

By the way, now the entire screen is black. Maybe some flex was not connected correctly... I have exchanged the flex and there are no variations, I don't think they are the...

Running Line Voltage and Integrating LED Pods - Automotive
          by FALKLAN
Howdy everyone! I hope all is well where ever you are!

I'm attempting to integrate a couple of LED pods into an automotive reverse lamp circuit. The problem being, while the vehicle is running there is a 8.5v current present on the reverse lamp power wire. Needless to say is that all LED pods and lights dimly illuminate while the 8.5v is present, so the LEDs are always powered on while the vehicle is running. When the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the voltage changes to 12 volts.

I am uncertain how to convert this line into a switched 12v output line for the LED pods....
