Re: Suitable replacement MOV-14D511K
BTW, MOV is the protection device, if it is not in the circuit it WILL NOT stop the product from working.Last edited by budm; 12-07-2015, 05:48 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Suitable replacement MOV-14D511K
I ordered the MOV you suggested in the previous post and it finally came today but these have 3 legs instead of 2! I'm assuming the shorter of the 3 legs is meant for thermal protection? Can i still use it and simply ignore the 3rd leg?Comment

Re: Suitable replacement MOV-14D511K
The one you received probably does have built-in Thermal fuse, pin 2 can be used for indicator to tell if the MOV has blown, you can use pin 1 and pin 2.
I used these 3-legs MOV in our products before.Never stop learning

by r2digitalI have a klipsch kda-500 that would turn on and allow me to get into the web management but it was picking up a lot of noise from audio sources so i decided to replace the smd caps on the power supply along with radial one. Some one was in here before me and they basically burned the bottom side of the traces off for the radial cap but i was able to repair it without any real problem. I thought i did a good job sourcing out replacement caps but apparently not and now i can't get the power supply to turn on it just constantly try's to keep turning on. Attached is a picture of the power supply before...2 Photos

by ezeniaHello,
I am not sure where exactly to put this thread, so hopefully this is the best place.
I have a USB fan that has suddenly been unable to increase its speed. It's just stuck on the first speed. This fan has 3 speed settings. Each time you press the power button, the speed of the fan should increase.
The way the button works with each press is: Speed 1 > Speed 2 > Speed 3 > OFF
Speed 2 and 3 don't currently work any more.
I suspect the issue might be with what looks to be some kind of driver IC. It is a 16-pin... -
by chth96I mistakely pluged 100v japanese retro game console to 220v outlet.
So It seems that glass fuse and varistor have been blew up.
I can identify that voltage and ampere value of glass fuse(250V LF 1.6A),but It is impossible to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU(YAMAHA 35M07U XR258)
Is there any way to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU?
Any reply would be appreciated.
EDIT:
It seems that I finally found out what type this black varistor is. It is Panasonic ERZV05D221 “ZNR” Transient/Surge Absorbers (Type D) Varistor Voltage...2 Photos -

by fytonvMy 7 channel NAD receiver has audio quality and volume issues on 2 of the channels. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Sometimes they're at about half the dB level of the left channels, and then they cut out entirely. Powering off and on the receiver fixes it for a bit.
Without much experience to really know for certain, they only apparent issue I can see is with these electrolytic capacitors on the power supply. Bulging = bad, correct? I'm looking for replacements but I'm unsure what leeway I have with the temp ratings. Are there any other specifications I need to worry...-
