    Sony KDL-46CX525 6x blinks backlight dead?Possible replacement with LED's?

    Good evening everyone!

    I do own a Sony KDL-46CX525 witch blinks 6x Times at startup and won't display any picture..

    the Inverter looks fine, no burnt spots or anything.

    Tested the startup in full darkness, could see a logo/menü something for a split second.. thus inverter or ccfl fail. (could be powersupply also?)

    What should be replaced or done?

    Can i fake the inverter ok signal and check the lcd if it is working with a LED torch?

    How much voltage is on the inverter ok on the 24V unregulated output side?
    The Service Manual states 2,65V or more is ok, can i take some resistors and do a resistor divider on the backlight ok?

      Check the transformers on the inverter board. Compare them with each other. There should be no more than 3% difference. Also you can lift them off and check the board underneath for hot spots. A bad transformer usually runs hotter than the others.

          thank you for your fast reply, well it would be nice to take out the inverter and run the telly just wihtout it

          does anyone know how to do this?

          Inverter Ok gibes me 3,2~3,3V from the powersupply to the logic board, should be possible to create with some resistors from the 12V regulated supply on the powersupply

          If i can get it to work with picture and sound but no backlight

                  First try resoldere all transformer and transistor with good flux.

                      @CapLeaker @anmol: i can't run the inverter long enought to keep the backlight warm, i will look at the inverter closely if there are solder cracks...
                      As the lcd shows some picture very shortly i think it is the ccfl backlight not the inverter itself because it tries to run, and then the tv goes to 6 blink...
                      Maybe it is the powersupply but then i need to fool the connection to it from the inverter into a good state to give it some time to start up.

                      Theres no hissing, whining from the inverter or powersupply ^^

                          You need to check the secondary resistance of the transformers. Common issue on them inverters is failed tarfos.

                                  The first link gives me access denied and the second one says no thread on the forum...

                                  Ok will check the transformers of the old inverter! Can i just measure resistance while they are still soldered in?


                                  Can i replace the inverter with:

                                  Inverter Board LJ97-02743A SSI460_12A01 from a philips?
                                  Is it the same as the SSI460_12F01 maybe just a different revision?

                                          I have problem with SONY 55X90J. After several check status is as below;
                                          1. Running power board as stand alone:

                                          TCON_12V =~ 12.6V
                                          EVDD V On Max 24V= 19V.

                                          2.                                          Running power board with TCON as stand alone:

                                          Effect as below, attched.

                                          3. When bottom LVDS cable is disconnected no blinks, but of course no TCON 12V and EVDD.
                                          "I'm almost sure it's a defective panel, but maybe someone has encountered a similar issue on their screen.

                                          Hi everyone. First post on Badcaps!

                                          I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot....

                                          Hi I'm new to trying to repair TVs, but I saw a broken OLED offered for a reasonable price and thought I'd try my hand at it.

                                          I found the service manual, which was critical to know where to probe.

                                          With it I was able to determine that my DKA board was bad, when P_ON#1/2 gets enabled REG_12 on the DKA board collapses. I'm assuming one of the downstream regulators has a short, but I couldn't work out which rail/component and replaced the DKA board entirely.

                                          Hi all,

                                          I have the subject TV and it will work normally sometimes but suddenly go black and give the 2 red blinks blink code. When this happens, I check the power supply board voltages and all I have is the Standby 3.3V and BL_ERR 2.2V. When it's working normally, all power supply board voltages look normal and stable. I've checked the backlights with a tester and they all test good. I've also read that the 2 red blinks is a faulty power supply board, so could it be throwing up an erroneous BL_ERR?

                                          Any Sony experts out there that can help??...
