    A burnt Vizio E421VO

My sisters boyfriend brought me a Vizio E421VO 42" flat screen LCD HDTV today. Said it's his grandmother's and she was just watching it and it flickered and went off. So I pulled off the cover and started looking for bad caps. Couldn't find any. Then I tested the fuse and sure enough, it was blown. Then I did a physical inspection and holy crap! It looks like some MOSFETs freaking caught fire!!! When I pulled the power board, it showed black stuff on the back of the LCD screen, burn marks. It shows burned marks on the back of the board on the HOT side. It looks like one of the MOSFETs exploded a bit!

Does anyone know what could of caused this? The traces on the underside are damaged pretty bad like. I don't think I can fix the board. My fear is if I replace the power board with a new one that's the exact same, maybe there's a design flaw some wheres and if the problem happens again, it might end up burning down the house....

    Here's some pics.

I found this power board, for the same television. But it appears to be a different design and a newer model number. Does anyone know this power board would be compatible?
I honestly couldn't see why it wouldn't work...

clean up the soot and take some focussed pic's

btw, if you have a toy magnifying glass - even from an x-mas cracker, hold it directly against your fone/camera and it will take good macro shots.

Thanks Budm! I didn't know ShopJimmy could offer compatible parts. That's a really useful feature!
