help element eldft406 main board shutting down

So i got this tv and it would shut off about 1 to 2 mins and I found a case history where someone changed the main board and fixed it. I happen to pull another main from a broken screen tv the other day installed it today and now tv works fine. But that main board is selling for 75.00 so id like to find a way to repair this main board. I was thinking
Maybe check voltage regulators and caps? In not to sure what causes main boards to shut down nothing appears to be getting hot I freezed sprayed it. Any help thanks

'Maybe check voltage regulators and caps?'Well, what did you check so far? Since you do have working board then you should be able to do comparison readings between the two boards.

I would say epprom which is a very common failure on these cultavision boards but if you suspect something like voltage regs why not check them ? Also checked Pson signal when it fails ?

Sounds like a classic case of flash memory failing as it gets hot. All too common, sadly. Replacing SPI flash ought to fix it. The SPI flash is NOT an EEPROM but is often mistakingly called such.

My advice, if you are going to do a lot of repairs, get a programmer. I paid about $100 for my GQ-4X and maybe another $50 for adapters. It paid for itself within the first month. I've several times bought boards for smaller TVs and reprogrammed them for the TV I needed them for, because the firmware is usually the only difference but screen size has a lot to do with price. Alternatively, you can usually find most of the preprogrammed flash ICs at shopjimmy for around $15 or so. That's ok if you need 1, but if you need several of the same one, the programmer will save you a lot of money.

Re: help element eldft406 main board shutting down

so I got 2 of these tvs in checked regulators and caps everythings good so I think both have bad eeproms but shop jimmy sells these programmed eeproms but there saying there only for panels T400D3-HA24-C04(VER.A1) Chi Mei panel (T400HVN01.0) panel version are the Version 2 and the T400D3-HA24-D03 Samsung panel (LSC400HF02) panel versions are Version 1

                  but both mine say panels
                  T400D3-HA24-c01(vera2
                  T400D3-HA24-cox
and they said them eeproms ont work but there all the same part number boards cv318h
                  28h1403a for ELDFT406
so anybody got any help to know if there eeproms will work

yes in the other thread on here the same tv hes fitted a new eeprom from shopjimmy now the pictures upside down so they not be suitable. If you have a working board as you say in post 1 can you pull the chip and read the data and put it on some chips for you other mainboards.

Does the TV access the flash memory after it has booted, assuming the user doesn't change any menu settings? If not, then I can't see how it could be an "EEPROM" problem.

You can't go by the numbers stamped on the boards. The boards themselves and even the component configuration may be the same, but the firmware will be different. You have to go by the sticker number, if there is one. The sticker will have the firmware version number on it. If there is no sticker, I don't know.

So what sticker do you have on the bottom side of the board? for example:
                          http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...bottom_1_1.jpg

Notes on this one: 'This main board will only work if your TV has an AUO brand T-CON, look for board number 40T07-C01 or T400HVN01.0 on the T-CON board.'

Notes on this one: 'This main board will only work if your TV has a SAMSUNG brand T-CON, look for board number 12YR_S128BMB3_4C4LV0.1 or GA_60HZ_FHD_V0.3 on the T-CON board.'

BUT MY PANEL NUMBERS ARE NOT MATCHING, THEY ARE SAYING THEY DONT HAVE THE FIRMWARE FOR THESE PANELS, THEY HAVE THE SAME MAIN BOARD AND THE EEPROM GOES TO THIS MAIN BUT THEY SAID IT WONT WORK CAUSE PANEL NUMBERS ARE DIFFERENT.

Hello, I just serviced the same set a few days ago. I bought the eeprom from shopjimmy. I installed it and my picture was 180 out. I had a hard time reasoning with them. I removed their eeprom and put it in the trash because I could enter service mode but could not make any selections. I sat my old eeprom on a metal surface with all the legs touching the surface for five minutes. Installed it and the set is almost on its 48 hour test and has not shut off. All inputs are working like they should. Last night I fixed a Samsung LN52A540P2FXZA that had the power cycle issue. I replaced the common caps that fail and the problem remained. I swapped the original caps back because they did test good on the ESR. At this point I removed the eeprom and did the same thing as the Element. It turned on and is still running since last night and all inputs are working. Both of these sets belong to a bar owner and both quit working after a power outage. I can't explain this at all, but both sets are working and I will continue to test them for a few more days.

Just wondering if you ever found a working solution? Have the same problem. Same board and same panel.
