Would it be easier to find another strip and graft the working LEDs together

"The maplins are 350 that OK?' yes, you are going to be running at the lower current, but I do not know if it will have color shift at lower current drive or not. The existing strip is probably using the copper pads for heatsink, so if this LED should be able to handle it, we still do not know what your LED strip look like, the original probably does not have good thermal management either so they burn out.

    Yes says that on it.
    Original is if320
The maplins are 350 that OK?

I noticed on maplins page it says heat sink required..... Will I really need that's?

    These?
My board has 5 LEDs and says vf max 18v so I assume each led is 3.8v Ish?
Says if= 320ma the above is if 350ma. That ok?
So the LED strip has all that info printed on it, 18V MAX, If = 320mA? 18V/5 LEDS = 3.6V
So you will be running at lower current which will be fine, I also doubt that they are running them at MAX If.

What does the one in the panel look like?

The meter didn't power them had to use a battery. Have 6 LEDs out. 8 strips of 5 led and 3 on 2 strips gone. I've removed the bad ones... Any idea where a can get replacements?

Spell check -- traitor = resistor

It wont be too noticeable the brightness difference and what do you mean by traitor ?

Ok I will check them all and when I find the bad one I just solder the traitor in its place and it should resume normal function? Minus some brightness of course

The meter will have enough juice to dimly illuminate the leds.

You should put the current limiter resistor in series with the power source when you try to test the LED.

That's what I was referring to... What if the meter doesn't output enough voltage to illuminate it. So 3v should be ok?

Be aware that multimeters vary greatly in the output voltage when in diode mode. For example, the Fluke 87V will output more than 7V in diode mode. I have a Brymen meter that only outputs 1.5V in diode mode.

LEDs will be open, short or working, if its short your meter will show this, if it is open it will show that also, and if it glows its working. You fail to tell use the make and model number of the set you are trying to fix? not all LEDs are the same voltage ?

then the LED is duff..a 3v supply to each individual diode should provide illumination.
Often, the led itself is visually burnt.
    Good luck!

This happened last Saturday and today I finally had time this morning before I went to work to replace two non brand capacitors

I will let you be the judge weather or not these are bad or not according to the blue ESR meter that I am using

I am comparing them to a brand new one that I installed

The display came back on and the programming was not lost which I was surprised by I would have thought that when the display went blank that so did the memory as well

I going to let it run for several days before I remount back on the wall next to the...

    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
    by jinu_j
    Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

    1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
    2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
    3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
    4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

LG 47LA620V Same LED Failing Back Light Issues
    by jdawg99
    Hi All,

I need some help with this one please. I am attempting a repair on the backlight. TV turns on and flashes the LG logo so stripped it down and found one faulty LED. Replaced it and tested on an LED tester and the strip was good. Put it back onto the PSU and it lasted about 20 seconds before going out again. Same LED had blown. Changed it for another type of SMD one (same voltage) and it seemed fine. Put the TV back together but it was quite dim. Noticed it was in power save mode so turned it off and the screen was bright. Left it on for half an hour only to come back to the...
