Samsung UD65HU7200F smart tv - vertical lines on display

    Hello,

I am bought a Samsung UN65HU7200F tv from a neighbor very inexpensively. He stated that it just stopped turning on, but the year and a half prior to that, it was great. I replaced the power board and everything worked. However, there are some vertical lines on the screen on the left side (mostly white, some colored stripes), and faint alternating grey/light stripes on the rest of the screen. (see pictures)

I ordered a replacement T-CON board and installed it. No changes whatsoever.

I have checked the tab bonding, and on the left side, it flickers when I press on it, but doesn't go away. I haven't found any connection that changed any other aspect of the display. I placed some thermal padding on the left tab (as shown by Bud M-thank you btw), and it didn't change anything.

I'm not sure what to do next. Could the main board cause these problems? Can the tabs/boards on the TV be replaced?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You can attach them to a new post. I'm not sure the admin, Topcat can help you much there.

Wow is this out first curved 4k tv repair! !??

How about any of the components on the top boards of the lcd screen? Bad solder connection? Try some freeze spray above the affected area

To me it looks like a tab bonding issue but the rest of the screen affected may be a result of the affected area. Try just having the opposite side connected to the tcon. Is the grey shadow lines there still?

Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Wow! 18 months old and failed. Hmm... is that tab bond board on the bottom of the TV? If it is, ask your neighbour if he cleaned the TV screen lately.

                  is it out of warranty
Thats very poor if its panel failure with no outside interference

Thank you all for your input. I will try freakaftr8's idea about attaching one side of the t-con board, then the other and see what happens.

By freeze spray, do you mean the compressed air cans that you can use to clean dust and other debris out of electronic components/keyboards, etc?

I'll also ask my neighbor about a recent cleaning.

Yes, the tab bond board is on the bottom.

Can the panel be replaced? I'm not totally clear on exactly what the parameters of that part are.

                    No warranty.

Thank you all for the input!

It looks like Costco in the USA sold this TV at $2179 after a $600 rebate.

                      http://www.costcoweekender.com/2015/...FXZA-hdtv.html

If this set was bought from Costco, they generally have a 2 year warranty on the TVs they sell.

I usually never buy extended warranties, but Costco has reasonable prices to extend the warranty up to 5 years.

The "panel" is the 65 inch display, it is not practical to replace it (especially as it's curved) and is likely to cost more than a new TV. Only on certain specific TVs is it practical to replace the panel, in most cases it is not.

Wow, TV quality really has gone down the toilet these days, hasn't it?

If it is a tab bond issue, then it is gone I guess. I've fixed tab bond issues on calculators and microwave LCDs with my soldering iron (by just applying heat on the ribbon), but those generally have big traces. I don't think this would be possible here. But I suppose you could try before parting the TV out (if you chose to do that, of course... some people will watch it like that until it gets much worse).

Interesting... I never knew that Costco has warranty for a reasonable price like that.
