Recently fixed my TC-P50G15 Panasonic Plasma, thought I'd share the experience. I'm not a tech, just someone who knows basic electronics and how to use a multi-meter and not fry myself (surprisingly).
Symptom - set gradually started having power-on issues. Symptom would be a single flash of the power LED at 3-second periodicity. At first, it would happen maybe one in 10 times, then 30% of the time, then 50%, then 90% - when the set became effectively unusable.
Suspected P-board, but after replacing with a refurb, the exact same symptom persisted. I checked all test voltages, everything looking good (with original P-Board and the replacement).
Checked all cables, etc., tried cooling components with dust-off propellant - didn't reveal any obvious candidate bad-caps on any board.
Finally decided the most likely culprit as the A-Board (main board), though the service manual () listed a number of boards as suspect with that power LED signal, but couldn't find a bad cap or consistent change in symptoms when super-cooling components.
Found another helpful post on badcaps forums where a poster suggested they had sent theirs in for a repair to ModusLink PTS. Found my board here: http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com/TXNA1FFUUS/
ModusLink quickly turned around the repair (or maybe they sent me a refurb? I failed to mark the board before sending).
Now when I first installed the new board, I was getting a new/different symptom - a six blink on power-on and the relay clicking off as before! uh oh, something not right. Jiggled all the cables I had disconnected in the power of t-shooting, made sure everything was seated. Ahhh, now normal power-on. But ruh roh, now we have a whole vertical section of screen not working! WTF. Well, apparently in all my tweaking I had loosened a ribbon cable. Checked and re-did all relevant connectors, and voila. I now have a perfectly working set.
Thank you ModusLink PTS! I really like this plasma unit (though power usage is atrocious) and don't like the current LED sets, so very happy to have gotten this repair done and now have a set that powers on normally. Been about a month - working well.
Hope that helps someone else out there.
