    Vizio E3D470VX acting funny

Hi guys I'm new in this forum and as many I come in peace and looking for answers to point me in the right direction to fix my tv and make my kids and myself happy.

Long story short my tv is out of warrant and acting funny.

It started a couple days ago we were watching tv and suddenly the tv went super bright "washed out image with no contrast at all" did the hard reset after that a factory reset to no avail I continued to research and did another reset and suddenly the tv was back with contrast but with a green tint on the edges.

FFwd next day and when we turned the tv the green "tint" was a kind of halo and the tv again looked washed out with two thin black horizontal hairlines going across almost at the bottom of the screen.

Here is the funny part if I have the tv on for about 20mins or so the green tint goes away the super brightness goes down and the contrast is there again.
Also the two horizontal lines remain no matter what.

So I opened the tv I can't seem to find any blown caps or burnt marks.
On either the two visible tablets main board and power board.

What do you guys think it might be? Do you think I might have a shot by replacing the main board or the power board?

Any and every tip or help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance .

Okay here are some pictures of the back of my TV.

Like I said the TV keeps doing the same; if I leave it ON the green tint starts to disappear and the image is not washed out super bright anymore the contrast comes back.

On the back of my TV I see two boards Main board and Power Board not sure If my tv has a T-con Board....

Any suggestions or pointer as what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated!

      Thank you in advance.

The screen has integrated T-CON, from your description it sounds like the GAMMA Voltage reference went bad.
Can you show us the screen shot so we can see what the pictures look like?
There is a barcode sticker on the LCD panel, can you tell us the model number of the LCD panel?

Ok so do you think it might be the T-Con board? here are some pics of the TV turned on and the LCD label and main board too.

Let me know what you think.

          Thank you.

OK, from the look of it if I read the panel spec sheet correctly, the GAMMA Voltages are generated by the main board.
You can see the pin out of the GAMMA Voltages pins on both connectors.

              Re: Vizio E3D470VX acting funny

Hello So quick update on my TV.

I bought a main board Thinking it might be the GAMMA that was wrong, I installed it BUT the problem was not solved....

Any more ideas what could be wrong?

To Recap the problem is that when turning on the TV the images appears to be too bright and no contrast. Also it might seem that there is a burned images on it meaning the logo comes up and you can see the contour for a couple minutes same with the menu etc. After that the TV starts taking a green tint that starts disappearing with time "1hr or so" and the contrast comes back too.
Additional there are two think black lines in the bottom half of the LCD.

Not much you can do unless this new board is bad.
There is no replaceable T-CON for this LED panel, if the new main board is good for sure then the only thing left will be the LCD panel which will make it not practical to replace due to the cost.

I am having issues with this same model. Their is 2 strips going to the top of the board and if I unplug one the image can be made out on 1 side but when they are both connected I get a vertical line down the center of the screen. Not sure what to check next.

                    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

                    Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                    Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                    by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....

Vizio E3D470VX with burnt P/S board
                    by karthur
Got a Vizio E3D470VX. Issue is when power is on, no video. I did a flashlight test and I can see an setup menu in there. I did not connect it to a video/audio source to see if it would play. Do I need to do that?

Took off the back cover and found the P/S board burnt. Looks like its beyond repair since it got some of the traces on the back.

Next step was to try and find a replacement board (#500-405-1290). ShopJimmy doesnt have one in stock. The ones that they list as an alternate replacement does not look like mine.

Any advise to find a suitable replacement...
