    Vizio E321VL - now power

Vizio E320VL showing no signs of life. 14 pin connector on power supply not getting a reading on the 5 volt pins. Large capacitor showing around 168 volts. Smaller caps look fine, but is it worth replacing anyway?
I have a new eprom for the unit if anyone thinks that could be the culprit. Thanks for any help. Phil

If you do not even have standby Voltage then there is not much you can do until you fix the standby power supply section first.
Try running the power supply board by itself to see if you will get the standby Voltage.
If you search badcaps 'Vizio E320VL' you will see lots of threads on this model.

Re: Vizio E321VL - now power

Thanks Budm, sorry I've been away with some health issues. I've read through a lot of the threads on this model, but can't discern a solution. Shop Jimmy has a PS board for around $44. What are the prospects that I'll spend that much on parts and time to repair this board, if indeed it is the PS. I bought an eprom for this TV in case that might be a common Vizio problem, but haven't installed as it seems to be a PS problem. I will be donating this TVto someone (instead of it going into landfill). Thanks. Phil

Budm or anyone, I found a "Stand-by repair kit" on ebay. Is this worth trying?

Just followed your advice from post #2 and did a search for "Vizio E320VL no standby".

Too many for me to read through each one, I try using the search with 'BUDM' in it also to narrow it down to what I post with regarding to the model number but still too many come up. May be I did not set the search parameter correctly.

Re: Vizio E321VL - now power

I took a $20 gamble on the 5V repair kit. Looks like it fixed the problem. TV working great!
When taking the old parts off I found one part (C103 in photo) was burned on the side. Might have been the only problem but went ahead and replace two of the three other parts (didn't replace the fuse). Thanks for all your help.

Same TV same issue. C103 burnt. f601 no continuity. replaced C103 and F601 with a "NTE 5WD15". The 5WD15 i had to modify because it was axial. TV works fine now. total cost $1.50.

                    Thanks Badcaps guys.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                        Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
