ps50b451b2wxxu clicking not turning on

So got a Samsung and taken back off to check for visiable faults got nothing I can see but makes a clicking noise when you try to yturn on about every 2-4 seconds any ideas? The blurry picture is of two cylindrical things that appear to be cracked could this be related? Thanks in advance for your help

After testing around found unplugging logic board allows TV to actually turn on and there's sound no picture but can use remote to turn it on and off

How did the logic board become unplugged?

Does the panel have any cracks? Even the smallest crack in the corner?

Nope no cracks and I unplugged it, with logic connected there was just clicking noise with logic unplugged there was sound and it turned on.

I can't test till tonight, (just moved in no curtains massive windows) but will update when I can should I test with logic back connected?

You have a short to the Vs, could be Y or X Sus board maybe Y buffer or power board ? disconnect Y and X see if it will turn on with logic board reconnected ? then try disconnecting X+Y one at a time to find faulty one, if it starts relay clicking with both unplugged the fault is on the power board, hope this helps Flocko

Appears to be ysus as with that unplugged turns on with sound but with y on and x unplugged same clicking problem

Can you try with Y unplugged and X plugged in ? if it powers up then yes it the Y or Y+ buffer or Buffer would need to check ? Flocko

Yeah it only power on when y is unplugged

So best to check resistors first and try narrow down if its buffer or y or both

you will need to test the Y sus and buffers before jumping in an ordering things, you need to remove them from the set. do you have a DMM and know how to use it? can you tell us what boards are fitted (BN96-12390A is used in this model I think ?and LJ92-01691 buffer )?

Yeah got dmm I'll go have a look at boards now believe it's that buffer and got a rough idea how to use dmm

Need board numbers for Y Sus and buffer? BN44-00273B is the power board and yours is a BN44-00274 as I can see in the photo. test Y board for shorts across Vs to ground and check buffer ICs for shorts if you are unsure how this is done look on you tube, Tom has a how to test buffers demo on there and this will show you. Flocko I have just looked again and see your Y Sus is a Y+buffer combo these are hard to find and cost loads. you my wish to repair your board our get some one to repair it for you, I still need the number?to help you more

Sorry my bad just realised I read 42" number not 50 is ybuffer along bottom of TV? I'll take a picture I get confused with plasma ones

Logic buffer lj41-06244a bottom left, bottom right lj41-06245a y main lj41-05905a can't find y buffer only x buffer unless I'm missing it somewhere

The Y Sus looking in the back is big long board on the left with the panel ribbons going to it, you have taken a photo at the start, but cannot make out number. I am thinking it will be LJ92-0160 you will find this number along the bottom right of the board. As already said this can be a hard to find board and the cost is shown in the fact, I have repaired these in the past and will look up what it took to repair,I may also have one or two laying around my workshop some that I meant to put o eBay if they are the same

Yeah you're right with the board number lj92-01601a it says going to test for shorts now

So to test buffer ICs you will see two green resistor next to the (3)buffer ICs with your meter set to low OHMs check across them , OL on meter if good low OHMs Bad , check white plug top right on board black to ground meter set low OHMs pins 1+2 LO,pin 3 low OHMs,pin4LO,pin5 low OHMs,pin 6 OL this would show a good board,pin 1 being the pin nearest the end o the board , OL the reading you get when your leads are apart, and low OHMs when leads are touching , please do these checks and give me your readings
