fixed TV by recaping Tivo, how is it possible?

my old panasonic LCD RPTV recently started this annoying intermittent blue screen and horizontal bars issue like this with signal from either tivo or dvd:

i took the TV apart and looked for bad caps and loose connections and found nothing. i guess not surprising since panasonic makes good caps. i was just about to junk it and buy a new LCD TV, but replaced tivo's hard drive for larger and recapped the tivo first as the parts just came in.

initially i thought i wasted my time recapping the tivo as the OEM caps looked good, but the interference in the TV went away completely.

has anyone seen anything like this where recapping one component removed interference in another component?

If there's no obvious connection between the fix and the fault, then it's likely the fault is intermittent and has gone away temporarily - perhaps by moving things around.

here is the thing, tivo was always on and always connected to the TV via components and composite cables via audio receiver. maybe there was some high frequency oscillation generated by tivo's PS? the only thing that was moved was tivo (and it's wi-fi adapter), but not TV. i may need to experiment with the wi-fi adapter location in case that was the culprit for completeness.

it has been 5 days with no interference while the interference was happening daily numerous times prior to the tivo's surgery.

i was wrong and tom66 was right. the problem did come back. for reason that is a mystery to me it took full 7 days for problem to reappear. it's not the wireless either.
i'll take the TV apart again and reattach the cables that go to the light engine. it that doesn't work, i'm buying a new TV.

resolder the connectors that go to the tivo etc.

Tivo HD will not transfer files ....

Not sure where to post this, thought this might be the best place

                Tivo setup:
Tivo 1 - Tivo HD, Monthly service (ancient, over 10 years old)
Tivo 2 - Tivo HD, Monthly service (ancient, over 10 years old)
Tivo 3 - Tivo HD XL, eBay Tivo with Lifetime service (newer but still old)

Yes I am the idiot that paid monthly for all these years. I found a broken Tivo HD XL with lifetime service on eBay for $40 (Tivo 3), I bought it, it was a bad power supply, I re-capped it, good as new. So the plan was to cancel Tivo 1 and use Tivo 3 in it's stead. So I...

i recapped the entire foxlink psu with rubycon caps of the exact uf needed. i also purchased a delta psu to see if the different brand would change anything and it did not. i recapped the entire motherboard except for about 5 of the 22uf caps. i used rubycon on everything except the five in front of the processors. i used 5 nichicon polymer caps there. i soldered a wire to each screw hole of the psu and soldered one wire to the metal outer shell and one to a screw hole on the motherboard(to make sure it was all grounded well). i also recently tried disconnecting the power cables from the dvd drive...

The RT8205A RT8205B RT8205C dual step-down, switch-mode power supply controller generates logic-supply voltages in battery-powered systems. The RT8205A/B/C includes two pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers fixed at 5V/3.3V or adjustable from 2V to 5.5V. An alternative LGATE1 output LG1_CP can be used for external charge pump (RT8205B). And an optional external charge pump can be monitored through SECFB (RT8205C). This device also features 2 linear regulators providing fixed 5V and 3.3V outputs. The linear regulator each provides up to 70mA output current with automatic linear-regulator bootstrapping...

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

TV runs, backlight on, have sound and no image (dark grey/blue/black LCD)

Disconnected right (looking from rear of TV) tcon-buffer board cable, LCD left half displays.
No shorts on right buffer board.
Started masking tcon-buffer board signals... (connection #1 in main board pic) about 20+ pins from top of connector... LCD fully displays with some anomalies.
Gradually reduced # of masking signals... eventually down to 1. Removed that... LCD works perfectly.
No obvious damage on right buffer board 3x COF to the panel like another 43" LG fixed ( link ) with...
