Re: Vizio E421VA - no picture

Someone has scatched an "X" on top of two canned capacitors on the upper right of the image. Has this TV been to a service center or has anyone else tried to fix it? Just curious

EDIT: Sorry I didn't realize the age of this post.

Re: Vizio E421VA - no picture

mines had no backlight ,and like a buzzing sound comming from main board , no picture on screen , no sound, good voltages

          #solution to my problem
hdmi ic or u501 ,72 pin ic
          silicon image ic

i took it off smd removal and it turned right on good backlights too image on screen.

you can either replace the mainboard with an identical board or replaced the bad ic . im replacing the ic

I know I am late to the party, but did this work? I have the same issue, but I can see the VIZIO logo then the same symptoms. I am thinking it is one of the components attached to the main board (IR, Sound, etc). Can the firmware be flashed or does the eeprom need to be replaced for that to occur?

Sorry for not responding to the reply, guess I had been watching TV, but now the same problem returns. FB4401 was blown, with that fixed, I watched tv for about 6 yrs.
now reparing the blown fuse it just shorts the 12v to gnd, like 2 ohms or less - and it is not from my repair, no solder bridges there.

any suggestion what it could be ? ?
