    Samsung Un55d6000sfxza swapped main board board now showing wrong model number

    OK so I got this for free off craigslist, isolated the mainboard as the problem. Checked around and saw theres several compatible replacement boards from different model #s. Ordered a mainboard originally from a Samsung 40" put it in and fired rite up.

    Seemed to be working good until I tried using the YouTube app in th hub, picture is only about 40% of the screen and cuts off. Saw the TV is listed as a un40d6050 in the TV info. How can I get the TV to recognize the correct model number? If I flash New fw will it brick the TV?

    Not much you can do unless you can get the panel type matching number and the right panel size config.


    You can however and this will take time and at your own risk is to go one by one with in the service menu were the option is change the panel size its to go one by one on each 55" size setting by selecting it and exiting the service menu and checking the app to see if the size goes back to normal.

    Make sure to write down your current settings before messing with that.

    Also might try a firmware update, seems odd as Samsung is usually pretty forgiving with their auto LVDS settings.

      Yea its displaying th model number the board came out of so Im not sure if it would brick it updating the fw with this model file. Maybe I just wont use the YouTube app since the picture for everything else is the correct size. Would be nice to have it correctly identifying its model though in case theres an auto software update.

      I gotta say though, for only $60 its a very nice set! The guy even gave me the remote and Samsung wireless adapter with it!!

        You will not brick the set, I have used mainboard a out of 32" for 55" and vice versa and never had any issues with updating firmware.

        Samsung is pretty easy going, personally I would just leave it as is and use another device for your app surfing.

          Some sets give you options for different screen sizes from the service menu. Off hand I don't know for that particular set. I have done this in the past for a LG tv.
