    Vizio M550NV help--Rookie repair

I have read the search threads on this set.
    Here is my story.
In-laws set, 4 years old. Dish struck by Lightning. Only thing would come on was the solid color vizio power light. Took apart and tested output voltages and found only standby of 5.19 on two terminals. Ordered a used ebay power supply board and installed it. Same voltage so I assume I did not know how to test properly the Pwr on jumper deal but it was not clearly marked so I didn't wanna smoke something else. So I pulled replacement board and put old one back in. New board to be returned I just pay shipping. Now when I plug it in the light flashes a bit then goes solid and Vizio start up screen with Apps, Internet, etc on it comes on but the remote does not have any control over it. After a while it will go off then later cycle back on...same as some of the other threads on here I read where the EEPROM chip is blamed.
My question now is is this TV worth fixing ? A local repair shop will charge me a 60.00 deposit to be applied to the repair if I go through with it or keep the 60.00 for his effort. I just don't wanna get into deep and something else go out on it. Does anyone know what this repair would run if that is the issue. BTW, the TV appears to be a LG under the cover. the panel and boards all say LG on them. Appreciate any advice. I hoped to get lucky and fix it but I am hesitant to do the main board swap cause I am afraid something else could be messed up to.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

More likely to be bad main board than anything else.
When the power switch is activated, the main board will send out the PS-ON command signal to turn on the PFC Voltage booster and the rest of the power supply.
Pictures of the whole back side of the TV and the pictures of the connectors on the power supply board so we can see the pin labels of the connectors?

The fact that it comes on and shows the apps leads me to believe that it's the eeprom. You can buy a replacement eeprom for it pre-programmed for around the $20-$30 range. Not the easiest thing to change without the right equipment and experience but certainly not very expensive. The main board for that TV will be quite pricey to replace.

Where can you buy this EEPROM or Nand Flash memory for the Vizio M550NV? I have search the web and can't find anyone selling an replacement "NAND FLASH memory" for any Vizio smart TV.

I see these eeprom kits on Ebay currently (for the record). I see that this is an older post and I am currently researching for a rookie repair of my own.. I may have a mainboard available soon if you are still looking. I have an M550nv that has a bad panel I believe. Message me if you are looking and I will let you know if this one will be available after I finish my repair attempts.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

            Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

            Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
            by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
            CN6401
            Pin 01 NC
            Pin 02 NC
            Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
            Pin 04 "N/C"
            Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
            Pin 06 "GND": N/C
            Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...
