    Samsung ln40a630 need opinion

This picture is a screenshot of what I get when I first turn on the TV. The lines are multicolored and change on the TV when the scenes on TV change. When first turned on, this lasts for anywhere from 30 seconds to three minutes, then the TV will come on with a perfect picture and remain that way until I turned it off.

I have tried tweaking the panel and squeezing with no change in the initial picture. Does it look like a screen tab failure of which I would attempt to repair or could the t con board cause this failure?

Note: I'm using an iPad to submit this thread, has anyone else had a problem uploading more than one picture at a time? I can select multiple pictures with no problem, however when I go to upload them it will only upload one picture.

    Re: Samsung ln40a630 need opinion

I had that happen to my samsung tv. It's the ribbon connected to the t-con board and the main board. what i did was disconnect that ribbon and reconnected it. It worked slightly, but that may completly work for you. Then, i went to buy some electric connector cleaner spray. I sprayed the ribbon at the points of the t-con and main boards, connected the ribbon and the picture was fine.

That to me looks like a panel failure.

I'm going to agree with newtothis on the panel diagnosis.

The T-Con is only about $40.00 on eBay and it is selling briskly!
But first, clean the LVDS contacts with DeoxIT spray !

Thank you all for taking the time to voice your opinion, much appreciated. I'll first try cleaning and re-seating the cables and then will go deeper if needed. Will advise of results in a later post.
            Thanks again!

Ok, this is a power supply IC stability issue on the main board - in my case that's BN96-08997A. Don't waste your time, simply replace one of the Power ICS (IC101) and replace the tantalum (C102) capacitor with a ceramic capacitor (47uF up to 100 uF). There is a design problem on this board, where the IC goes unstable if connected to high-ESR (Tantalum.) It should have been designed with Ceramic. Most of the times, you can just replace the Cap with Ceramic type and you won't have to replace the IC (The IC has a bottom pad, which is a pain to replace unless you know what you're doing)

You can buy direct from ShopJimmy!, the problem is if your audio is fine, then you're paying more than you need to. The repair Kit that ShopJimmy! sell includes the Audio IC and Power IC and Capacitor - still not a bad deal for $19.xx. In my case the audio chip didn't need to be replaced. The Power supply chip is MP2363DN (SOIC8N available on eBay) and ceramic caps all over the place. I don't recall what voltage rating I used, but measure the voltage across C102 and use a cap with that rating plus margin. Example, if the voltage across C102 is 1.8V, the use at least 6.3V rating (smallest I know of).. happy repairs

No, sorry, that's on the BN96-08997A main card.. I know there are many revisions, but most of them have the same / similar problems..

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                    by TR103
                    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                    - sound and backlight, but no picture
                    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                    - it keeps rebooting
                    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                    by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                    Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                    by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

                    Samsung QE55Q60RAT - no picture
                    by YellowJacket
                    Hi friends,

a friend of mine gave me this TV to fix, with common SAMSUNG TV issue - damaged panel. Turning on, sound is present, but no picture. So I went directly to standard process, connecting two pads together with a wire ( see in the picture ), and then removing flex cables. With right flex connected, there was half screen working, but still no picture ( disappearing colors and similar weird stuff ) + working sound. With left flex connected, TV is restarting + working sound. I supposed, left side is damaged, so I then blocked all 8 CLK pins ( going from 0R resistors on the second...
