    sharp LC-60LE847U / 857U panel swap?

    Hello Everyone,

I've actually got a number of these Sharp sets of similar size, but slightly different models. The problem is most have the dreaded 2 long 5 short blink panel failure error code. This is expected, since they are all damaged panels. However, I haven't been able to "bypass" the blink error by unplugging any combination of the four ribbons attaching the tcon to the panel.

Since I have one LC-60LE857U that is/was working, I was beginning to wonder if I could simply connected all the boards from another set to that chassis, and the panel, in order to test for purposes of salvaging the boards.

These two seem similar, and pictured are the two model tags for the panels. Are they the same, or is mostly ever panel unique on sets like these?

Anyone have any idea on this? I'm down to just a few sets now, and 3 are the "5 flash/Panel". All model LC-60LE847U. I found a compatibility chart in two different Sharp SM's, but they don't exactly line up to what I need. Not sure if I could just try, or if an incorrect panel runs risk of burning out the TCON or power?

Incorrect T-con runs the risk of damaging the pane more than anything. That said, if the LVDS to the T-con is OK, you could leave the original T-con in and test everything else as you would otherwise. I would not advise testing the T-con.

Interesting point on the TCON "reuse" for testing. I did swap a TCON on one of the sets, but according to Sharp data, that TCON was for the same panel as the other TCON.

I gather from what you are saying that I could possibly plug the main and power into the TCON attached to the proper panel ( that happens to work). However, in that case I'd be connecting the mainboard to an unexpected TCON. They all seem similar on the outside with the LVDS, etc. but would that run the risk of damaging the main? AKA hooking up the incorrect TCON?

          How different are we talking?
You can check the pin out and see if it is similar, i.e. right pins grounded, right pins power.
There is always a risk with unknown hardware - but it is unlikely that Sharp would have completely changed LVDS pin out for such a minor revision. Not impossible, but unlikely.

            Tom,

Is there a way to check it with a data sheet of some sort? The TCON pictured is the one I'd like to use to test the boards off the LC-60LE847U models. This TCON currently attached to a partially damaged panel, is an LC-60C7500U. It does use a different power board than the LE847U. These are all 60 inch panels, and then I have one 70.

I can also use the TCON/panel from an LC-60LE857U.

I can't see any difference between those boards.
I think you will be OK.
Unless you could find a schematic I don't think you can be certain.
The boards seem to have the same part number though.

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
                by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???
                by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

Can LED panels be used from different TV's ( or the internals to the panel )?
                by NolesFan
I have a TV, ( example ) Sony XBR-75X80G that the LED panel is cracked, does anyone know if we can take the LED panel from a ( example ) Sony XBR-75X80H and plug it in and it will work? Or if the panel measurements is not exact, can we take the internals of the cracked panel 80G TV and mount into the good panel 80H TV? Thank you

Amazon Fire TV Omni K24NE5 tcon or panel bad?
                by Lee M.
TV came on with BL on but blank screen. Disconnected one of the ribbon cables from tcon to panel driver board and now I have half of the screen working normally. Any way to tell if the problem is with the tcon or the panel driver board or the panel itself? Should I just replace the tcon and see what happens?
