Among other stuff I picked up a Lenovo Thinkpad T510.
It didn't have the battery in it, the cover for the ram bay was gone as was the cover for the hdd. I dug around a bit and there was the battery, and the two covers!
I put some RAM and a hard drive in it and it's working just fine!!!Leave a comment:

Okay this is the newest tv I've picked up so far. It's a 4K Ultra HD Smart tv. No signs of external damage. Plugged it in and there's back lights and about a 2" wide vertical band about 1/3 in from one side.
This TV is just over a year old and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas just from the images where the issue might be.
I've put some pic's. Overall, psb, t-con, main board, one side t-con ribbon to panel disconnected, the other side t-con ribbon to panel disconnected. If I disconnect the cable into the t-con I get backlights and no vertical band with the... -
Magnavox 32ME304V/F7 Backlights no image.
Picked this up and it would make a nice monitor for out in the garage/shop however it's not working...
Plugin and on it turns. Backlights are on but there's no image. Hit menu, source... nothing changes.

Picked up a dead tv the other day and took a look today... only 3 years old too.
Plugged in and the red light was on, hit the button and it went off, the backlights flashed once and then nothing. No audio chime, no splash screen, just back to the red light.
Took the back off and could clearly smell "burnt". One of the holes behind a back light strip (between lights) was burnt and showed evidence of what we used to call in the auto manufacturing business a "thermal event" (see pic's).

Thought I'd update and close out this thread...
So I sent the unit into an OEM recommended repair facility (American Music and Sound
A Division of Jam Industries USA in Southhaven, MS). Now there's a few threads on Gearslutz about how crap Novation products are and how bad the service is at AMS. I can't speak to the Novation product quality issue as I have no real experience there. I can tell you that this synth that I picked from the dump and is basically 20 years old is working perfectly with only minor repair required...Leave a comment:

Got these little gems yesterday...
Dell Dimension XPS D233 although I'm a bit confused on the Processor Speed. Machine says it's a 233, cmos battery was dead and bios had a p/w on it so I changed the battery and changed the jumper to config and cleared the p/w. While doing that it said it was a 233 but the main screen in setup is showing it as a 133. Regardless - it's pretty nice and boy was it CLEAN. I've never seen a machine this old this clean! I had to look inside the main case fan to even find a speck of dust.

I just saw an add in my Facebook feed from Dell who are selling remanufactured T7500's for $1,300 I scored a two T3500 and a T5400 not long ago. I've sold one of the T3500's and still have one and the T5400 that I just started thinking about using to build a new machine for myself in. Here's the main board. I didn't pull the front panel board but here's a stock pic of what this unit looks like from the front. That's a LOT of rotary pot's. Anyway I've opted to send this to a service center that works directly with the OEM of the unit. They just received it the other day so we'll see. Again... this is a really sweet '80's synth and my total cost of ownership will simply be the shipping and repair cost so......Leave a comment:
