    Vizio E550i-a0 no turning on

Hello. I have a Vizio TV model E550i-A0 that went off and is not turning back on. White light at corner responds when pushing power button and stays on for 2 seconds then blinks once and stays for another 2 sec and goes off and basically it continues doing that.

There is not backlight, no sound. Testing voltages on power supply I get:
    1-2 :5v
    3,4,5: gnd
6-7: 0v. Board indicates 12v but there is none.
    8: 3.2v
    9:0v
    10:1.6v
    11,12,13,14: 0v

Replaced the main board as they are well known for having eprom issues but I still have same exact problem.

At this point I would like to get your input on if you guys think I have a bad power supply board or a bad screen.

On the power supply/ led connector I get 0v on all pins

    Thank you.

Re: Vizio E550i-a0 no turning on

Please put the pin names for each pin to make it easier to know what signals are missing.
Right now there is no Backlights ON/OFF (BL-ON) pin 9 signal from the main board to turn on the backlights. PS-ON pin 8 is fine.
The switched 12V is not working.
Is this the same exact board as yours? I need to know for sure before I start tracing the bottom side of the board. FSP196-3PSZ01

Thank you for responding budm. I live in USA.
That is the exact same board.

          Here pin names:

          3,4,5: gnd
6-7 (12v): 0v. Board indicates 12v but there is none.
          8(remote on/off): 3.2v
9(backlight on/off):goes up to 3.2v when push power button then drops to 0v
          10(pwm1):1.6v
          11(pwm2):0v
          12(pwm3)0v

OK good, I will have to trace the board to see why the 12V is not present, other signals/Voltages are fine.

Re: Vizio E550i-a0 no turning on

Please measure the DCV between the two legs of the main filter cap (big 450VDC cap laying on its side) to make sure we do have >360VDC when TV is turned on, be careful not to touch anything with your hands since we are working in the Hot deadly side of the circuit.
The boosted Voltage is generated by the PFC Voltage booster circuit, the LED backlights & switched 12V need the boosted Voltage to work.
MOSFET Q150, 151 drive the power transformer T150, one of the winding is for generating the 12VDC using diodes D215, 215, the other transformer winding is used for the LED backlghts driver circuit.

It should jump up to >360VDC when the power switch is activated and the main board sends out the PS-ON to turn on the power supply. If you only see 170V when the TV is turned on, then we will need to find out why the PFC Voltage booster is not working next.

Using the limited skills i have, i still can't figure what the problem could be. I found a power board for $15 free shipping on paylesscomponents. Would you recommend any other test to be sure that problem is not main board or panel ?
                    Thank you

Re: Vizio E550i-a0 no turning on

If your Voltage reporting is correct which indicating that you do have PS-on but no boosted Voltage, then we know you have bad power supply board. Main board I am not sure until you have good power supply board first.
You may have bad PFC diodes, you need to check D120A, D120B, D121A, and D121B. It can also be bad PFC Controller IC, bad cap the VCC for the PFC IC,etc.

That will be great for sending me the old board.
I will start requesting the old boards so I do not have to rely on the pictures to troubleshoot the problem, it will be so much easier for me to trace out the board when I have the real board in front of me. This will be a great help for other people at BADCAPS.NET.
                              I sent you PM.

I also have a Vizio E550i-A0 that will not power on. I obtained the same test meter readings as louis in the previous posts. I ordered a new power board and installed it today. TV does not power on at all.

Any suggestions on what to check next?

I don't really want to keep throwing parts at it until its fixed.

Is there anywhere to obtain Vizio test information for this specific model? ie pin 1= x V, etc. I have thoroughly examined both sides of all boards for any evident popped caps, etc and find nothing.

If you had exactly the same reading including no >360VDC at the PFC cap then you have another defective PSU

@Ipollock Message me if you think you need the main board. I have one, part number 3655-0642-0150(3). I bought it thinking that it would fix my problem. It works. I tested using the tv that I got fixed here with Budm help.

Just make sure that the main board is what you need. Follow the thread and the suggestions from everyone here at Badcaps.

So, I have this same type of TV from my father in law.

It has the same symptoms. Will not turn on, no LED light in the bottom right.

I have replaced the power supply (Have not check voltages).

I have just ordered a main board. Has this been known to fix this problem???

                                        I hope so.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                          Assuming...

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

                                          Hello Everybody,

Trying to repair a power supply from a Russound CA4 Multizone Controller (picture attached)

Russound no longer supports it but were kind enough to provide a schematic of the power supply (pdf attached).

The outputs marked 12v and 20v are all measuring only 1v.

The board is clicking, which I think means it is in something called hiccup mode when the flyback transformers switches because of an internal problem or something else on the board Overloading it.

The capacitors physically look clean (no bludgesor leaks) and...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
                                          by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...
