    LG 47LC7DF panel question

I picked up an LG 47LC7DF that wouldn't power on. Replaced 5 bad caps on the power supply and back in business. Next problem is there are several small semi-circular defects at the top of the panel that fade away as the panel warms up (10 mins or so). See photo attached.

I would like to reseat the tcon to panel ribbons, but it looks like a lot of work to remove the tcon on this model (lots of support structure in the way on this older model set). Any idea if I am wasting my time trying to get to the tcon to fix this picture problem?

    Re: LG 47LC7DF panel question

Working on this problem as well after replacing all the primary caps except some bigger ones but set come on fine every time now as it had intermittent turn on issues the 5 volt stby was original problem as it was too low, replace all little caps in primary fixed that. However after warming this set up the rings at top of screen almost goes away completely but still there very very faintly. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

P.S. Resetting cable from t-con didn't have any affect... I tried shotgunning with hair dryer so far no affect. Just plain weird...

Are they still there when you disconnect ribbon cables?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

looks like the diffuser sheet is sagging a little to me and the backlight is reflecting through the edge.

LG 82UN8570AUD ~ TCON or PANEL?
            by kca
            Hello all ~

Hope this finds you well. This LG 82UN8570AUD (April 2021 model) 4K UHD television has full audio capabilities but video is compromised / problematic.

When I picked up this large LG tv it had a full black screen upon startup. Previous owner said it just went black one day. No popping sound or anything else of note.

I got the display to work by taping off several traces of the right-hand side ribbon cable on the TCON that leads from TCON to PANEL. However, despite dozens and dozens of attempts to find the right combination / range of traces taped...

TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???
            by netgearnetgear
Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with...

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
            by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
            by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sony KD-65x7500D - double image - Tcon or Panel?
            by rimwall
This TV was showing a fine image and pulsing with a partial double image (offset vertically) every few seconds. I taped 8 clock pins on one ribbon cable from the Tcon to the panel. It stopped the double image, but some pulsing in intensity was still visible. I then taped another 8 clock pins on the same ribbon cable and the image is now ‘fixed’. Although I understand this results in some loss of resolution, presumably because the clock signal degrades as it passes horizontally across the screen.

I am wondering - do these symptoms and ‘fix’ mean that it’s a Tcon fault or...
