Magnavox 26PFL power supply

Have two Magnavox 26PFL4507/F7 tvs. Neither would power on. Purchased repair kit for power supply BA21F9F91025. Worked great for first TV. Decided to purchase the kit for 2nd TV (before I even opened the back). When I opened I found the area under the ceramic resistor badly burned (photos attached). My question - is it worth trying to use the repair kit on this board or is it too badly burnt to even try. I did purchase a new ceramic resistor in addition to the repair kit from ShopJimmy. I'm not sure what the resistors do on the back side of the burnt area and if they are gone. Thanks for any comments.

Was that a fusible resistor - I would try replacing the resistor and applying power to the board with a filament bulb in series with the +plus power - google dim bulb test.
I also notice the fuse is missing. if the bulb lights and stays brightly lit there is a short on the board. Was the repair kit just caps?

Small resister and diodes on the back look ok - test them?

That black bunt stuff is conductive. That has to be cut, ground or sanded away. Clean it up, replace the resistor and it should be all right.

Good to hear you got it working - if it was a fusible resistor it is important to replace it with the same type. An ordinary resistor may burn right through the board or cause damage to other components.
