    Another 50PJ350 Supply Problem

Repairing for my niece. Turn on and I hear the relays, screen flashes, cuts off.
I find one of the two 22 ohm resistors on power supply board is open. I temporarily outboard some power resistors to see it it works. It does. Let it run. Order new 22ohm 5W. Install, test and send on its way. It's DOA at her house.

Second try. I get it back. Same 22ohm is open again. I order a kit from eBay with resistors, regulator, diode.... Install and it works again. I keep at home this time turning it on and off and then just letting it run some.

After 2-3 days I go turn it on and it's back to just clicking again.

I did notice on another thread on this site about this model that I may have to up the wattage of the 22ohm power resistors due to the display pulling more current as it ages. Is this correct? Has this cured this issue for anyone?
    Thanks,
    Merc

    Go with a 10w

maybe you didn't selected the correct resistor (high pulse current rated)? If you replace it, does it get hot? Is that resistor limiting the inrush current or what does it do? Maybe some pics etc?

If it is the EAY60968701, I recently made a video about this:
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmifFBrB8BM

And if it is the resistor I think it is there is only current through it for a very short amount of time the moment M_ON turns off.

The ones you used may not be rated for that current. On the EAY60968801 two resistors are connected to VS via a MOSFET. That means 200V on about 44Ohm.

You may want to increase the wattage, the resistor may not have enough pulse power rating.

I have two 22ohm 10W ordered. I'll put those in and test it for a while before sending on. Set is too heavy to haul back and forth.

I think I saw your video if you posted the schematic you drew. Thanks.
