blaupunkt 32/147 led tv,no back light.

tv will switch on and is working but,after about 15 to 45 mins the back light will go off.i have pulled the caps out [in red on pic] and checked with a cap meter,all within range,now can one of the caps go bad with heat turning the light off,leave the tv off till cool and will come back on again,have ordered new caps,is there anything that i can check that may have some bearing on the prob.the caps in red are for the inverter.

Possibly an intermittent LED inside the panel - worth checking voltages going to the panel, see if they stay where they are, or if they increase / decrease.

Failing LEDs are becoming a BIG issue with LED-backlit TVs... what was that about them being more reliable?

Check with your DMM where the LED's connect to the board. Does the voltage ramp up, then back down?

checked the voltage,on standby-33.8 v,when switched on-41.4v,no rise or drop in voltage.

put the new caps in and still same,no back light,took the screen out,when switching on the leds start to come on then go dim then off.

Not sure how you can read 33.8V on standby? to where was your GND connected?

I think he is telling us the DCV at the LED connector when TV is in standby and when TV is on.

Makes more sense. So since the backlight does light up, then dim, then off, chances are still good for a bad led.

yes it was a bad led,only one,so nothing to loose i took it off,took one off a strip i had and,it melted lol,so i bridged the gap with solder,put back together and switched on,hay presto the picture is now ok,back light is on,cant tell that one has gone.

bad LEDs are getting to be almost as bad than bad caps now. lol
