    You can leave it open, the current will not flow across an air gap (voltage isn't high enough here)

      Eh i took kind of a gamble, left the cap in place and just soldered to the front of it....
      It worked, tv is on..happy feckin days!!
      Can send back the board too..

          Nice fix, so the original problem was due to bad solder joints?
          "I took the board out and the negative pin was kind of burnt and solder was not there so i soldered it up and popped it back in, sparking stopped and tv came on but on the left hand side there are(were) 11 tabs, the one at the bottom left(looking at rear of board) started to heat up so i cut power and then when i was removing the board again it snapped?

            Yeah i guess so - just found out there when i rang customer there that he used tinfoil instead of the fuse when it initially cut out on him, im guessing thats what caused that solder joint to go then it started sparking!

            What would caused it to blow the fuse in the first place.?

              Intermittent solder joints can lead to excessive current, which can blow a fuse. Unlikely, but possible.

                ahya it would be really hard to pinpoint what the actual cause was!

                Gona start a new thread tomor anyway, walker tv, flashing red, green, blue - a reset sort it.??
