    Samsung 64" Plasma struggle

I've been struggling with a failed Samsung ps64e550 for the past 8 months and have decided I'd better sign up to be more accomplished in resolving my own issues.

Late last summer the tv switched off and showed no signs of life, I worked out a fuse had blown on the power board and replaced it, it blew again straight away so decided to replace the power board. Now with a new power supply it is power cycling and I noticed some initial red 'snow' on it's first run.
After watching it switch off and on after 60-90 seconds a few times, I noticed some loud electrical noise from the power board so am not game on switching it back on for fear of blowing the new replacement board.

From my reading it'd possible the Y-main board also needs replacement, however I don't want to buy another and find out it was the buffer or something else that's the issue. Would anyone have some advice on how I can verify further the cause without replacing all the boards one by one.

    Thankyou
    Magoo from Au

You could start to try unplugging one board at a time starting with zsus and then YSUS to see if it stays on. Do this with the TV unplugged.

Wouldn't hurt to do some voltage checks on the outuputs for VS and VA.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I tried disconnecting the y-sus and switching it on, but the red light blinked and wouldn't come on, I'll check the voltages on the VS and VA on the power supply, thanks.

I have a query would it be possible to purchase a board from the US or UK, I was looking at a cheap used one at a fraction of the cost, at least I could check if that's the issue without shelling out $200+. My concern is of the voltage difference to that of Au for the Y-Main board?

These power supply's are very known for cold solder joints. There is usually a blob of glue on the back side of the power supply, which under it is usually the solder joints that are suspect. It's likely your used power supply you purchased has this issue. I suggest you inspect the solder joints on the one I mentioned plus all the other transistors on the power board. Hope this helps.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

            by Cooperr
I picked up this TV from Facebook Marketplace, original owner described it as "screen went black after a pop" and I hoped to see an obvious fuse or cap to replace. Doesn't seem to be the case, but my experience and electrical knowledge are kind of limited for this.

The power board (BN44-00445A, see attached) turns on and Vs and Va seem to momentarily have power, then they steadily drain to zero over a minute or two as if they're only getting power from capacitors. I've been measuring Vs and Va from the test pads, with and without the other boards connected to the power board...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
            by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....
