  • Re: Samsung PS64e550 psu replacement

I believe this could be my problem, after buying another YSUS board the sparkles appear once more and now reboots after around 5 minutes.

Would I need to adjust the VS on the power board or the YSUS board as I've noticed there is a pot on it as well as the two on the power board.

    Thanks for the suggestion....

Apologies for my ignorance, I'm not sure how to do that. It would likely shut down within 60 seconds and may not have the opportunity.

I've checked and the picture displays fine before rebooting, is there some voltages I may need to adjust, I've also read buying a second hand Y main board might not work as needs to be reprogrammed? Would this be likely?

    Thanks again

I actually hadn't verified that as don't have the channels tuned and switches off too quickly to test, but system menus appear correctly. It previously had no display issues prior to the power failure.

  • Samsung PS64e550 psu replacement

I've purchased a new replacement PSU board for my lifeless PS64e550, however while it now powers on briefly it then switches back off after a couple of minutes. Would anyone have some suggestions on the further diagnosis I should do to work out what other board may need replacement or if I need to adjust some voltages , I understand repairing a power failure may not be as easy as swapping a faulty board.

The symptoms I've seen since replacing the psu with a new one:
    - initial red sparkles on the first boot
    - an electrical noise coming from the new psu
    - tv then...

  • Re: Samsung 64" Plasma struggle

I have a query would it be possible to purchase a board from the US or UK, I was looking at a cheap used one at a fraction of the cost, at least I could check if that's the issue without shelling out $200+. My concern is of the voltage difference to that of Au for the Y-Main board?

I tried disconnecting the y-sus and switching it on, but the red light blinked and wouldn't come on, I'll check the voltages on the VS and VA on the power supply, thanks.

  • Samsung 64" Plasma struggle

I've been struggling with a failed Samsung ps64e550 for the past 8 months and have decided I'd better sign up to be more accomplished in resolving my own issues.

Late last summer the tv switched off and showed no signs of life, I worked out a fuse had blown on the power board and replaced it, it blew again straight away so decided to replace the power board. Now with a new power supply it is power cycling and I noticed some initial red 'snow' on it's first run.
After watching it switch off and on after 60-90 seconds a few times, I noticed some loud electrical noise from the...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Howdy, I've had years of mystery with failing electronic devices and tvs so thought it was time to sign up and learn from others willing to assist and share their knowledge, hopefully I can do the same down the line.
    Cheers
