did your order the chip from china or did you get it stateside from a reputable source?

It is not out of the realm of possibilities that you got a defective chip.

Your gamma voltages look ok, they are monotonic and symmetric (if you mirror about the middle point, the difference between each step is similar) so yes it could be something else that is wrong.

Got it off ebay but from a UK supplier. It was in a reel pack.
I do not believe that I could have possible had a 1st original faulty board, buy a second hand one which produced the same fault, then replaced the chip on a suspect board and still have the exact same results. I would at least expect some different visual fault if this was to be the case. No one person could be that unlucky to replicate the exact same fault 3 times over. And as I mention, the bright white screen fault only occurred AFTER i pulled the LCD assembly apart to examine the tab bonds. Prior to this I had a different fault, which manifested itself on BOTH tcon boards in the EXACT same way. I really believe this is something else I have inadvertantly done, but can not fathom what.

thanks Tom66, that re-assures me and mirrors my thinking also.
So what else governs the gamma. I would suspect the tab bonds normally but I have been pressure pointing various points of the tab bonds with the screen on, but there has been no difference in display, so my gut feeling is not tab bonds.

Bump!

I have noticed on a couple of occasions after booting from cold, that the picture seems good, but withing less than 30 seconds, the screen has gone bright white again - is this an indication of anything I wonder?
It does prove that the screen is capable of working correctly, but I am out of options as to what to try next.
