The sop8 was a uP0104S pgp51w. It was pins 8 and 6 grounded not 7 and 5 as previously mentioned

thanks for the schematics.
However seeing on the last page the PCB1, that is not my PCB
FYI its this one;https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1056260-REG/msi_h81m_e34_micro_atx_motherboard.html

As for the SOP, its by the realtek, and I have removed it, and tested pins and the two are not grounded to each other when off the mboard so I dont believe the realtek or this sop8 were at fault. I cant recall the...

anybody know where i can maybe get hold of a schematic for this mboard.
I have searched google and found about three references so far, but all go off to foreign (vietnam/thailand/phillipennes) based websites which I can not understand, and I think they are subscription sites that you need to pay for releasing the files.

Having read a post of similair nature on about another board on this forum, i have removed the realtek network controller, but the same fault still exists.

Hi,

I have a troublesome motherboard. It will not start. PSU I believe is OK, and have swapped for like PSU and system still fails to power up, leading me to believe its a motherboard fault.

No activity from power switch invokes the PSOK/PON line on the ATX.
If I short the ATX green line to GND (for PON), the CPU and PSU fan spin briefly, then stop. There is a constand 5VSB line from the PSU into mboard.

It is very difficult to trace anything on the mboard, but I have found what I think are two suspicious things;

1) the 3.3v lines...

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Bump!

I have noticed on a couple of occasions after booting from cold, that the picture seems good, but withing less than 30 seconds, the screen has gone bright white again - is this an indication of anything I wonder?
It does prove that the screen is capable of working correctly, but I am out of options as to what to try next.

thanks Tom66, that re-assures me and mirrors my thinking also.
So what else governs the gamma. I would suspect the tab bonds normally but I have been pressure pointing various points of the tab bonds with the screen on, but there has been no difference in display, so my gut feeling is not tab bonds.

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Got it off ebay but from a UK supplier. It was in a reel pack.
I do not believe that I could have possible had a 1st original faulty board, buy a second hand one which produced the same fault, then replaced the chip on a suspect board and still have the exact same results. I would at least expect some different visual fault if this was to be the case. No one person could be that unlucky to replicate the exact same fault 3 times over. And as I mention, the bright white screen fault only occurred AFTER i pulled the LCD assembly apart to...

I havent re-checked, but figured as the result is exactly the same, its unlikely to be the chip. I have not had any feedback about those values from post 9 whether they are correct or not. As the seem to conform to a sequential step up in voltage I am speculating that is how it is supposed to be, but please tell me if I am wrong here.
I can re-test the points again, but wont get chance to do that till tomorrow now.

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

I took a punt and ordered some replacement AS15-F chips to replace on the tcon board.
I have replaced but there is no difference

Here are some pics of the process.
original_1.jpg pic of original chip before removal
original_removed_1.jpg - pic of chip removed
new_infra_1.jpg - pic of chip being resoldered in my infrared station
new_insitu_1.jpg - pic of chip after replacement.

Now I have a fair confidence factor that its not the tcon board at fault, or if so, its not...

I just found this post on badcaps;
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=31725
The pictures show exactly the same fault as mine, and the fix was the gamma chip replacement on the tcon by the looks of it. Guess I will have to investigate this avenue. Cant believe that I have two dead tcon boards though.

So which chip on my tcon board is this mysterious AS-15 Gamma chip? Is it really worth me attempting to replace the chip, or simply take another punt on another tcon board off ebay? Would there likely...

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

I have since tried removing the power cable from the top of power board to the back left inverter - the screen stayed black. I have tried removing the power cable from the bottom of the power board to the back left inverter and the screen came on bright white but with darkening to the left, the went off. I repeated the same last step for the right inverter and same result. Connected all cables back up, and result still the same, over exposed white screen.
I have removed the metal frame work from the LCD and touched all tabs whilst...

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Picture was exactly the same - over exposed - very bright white.
I have tried a different board also, with same results. The white screen only occurred after I pulled the whole TV apart whilst trying to diagnose a different fault. I believe the bright white screen it is something I have caused inadvertantly, but I dont know what.

@budm,
If I remove the extreme left or right, I loose the associated half the screen.
If I remove the inner tabs, I get bars down the screen, almost like a self test of grey bars maybe?

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Hi Tom66,

I have tested both TCons and both produce the same white screen result. Prior to me dismantling the whole lcd frame both produced equally good working results except for the original dull on left hand side fault from cold.
I really believe its something I have done in dismantling that has caused this current fault, but i have reseated everything a couple of times over and tapped around at various places but nothing makes a difference.
Could it all be down to what I suspect the original fault was - a faulty...

Erri yes it is. This is the replacement I bought which made no difference.
Same fault existed when using both. (that is the orginal fault with the faded black left hand side). I have tried exchanging boards since the white screen fault. Why do you ask?

• Re: Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Thanks guys.
My immediate problem now as I mentioned is that the screen is washed out. The whole screen is washed out, even from cold.
If I could rectify this issue first, I wonder whether the original issue would return.
I have reseated the tcon connection cables several times but this has no effect.

Here is a screen shot of the washed out screen.

• Samsung LE46A55 bright white screen

Hi All,
I recently acquired a faulty Samsung LCD screen model LE46A55
It came with a strange fault whereby the left hand side of the screen when powered on from cold would appear dark and the image seemed to ghost. The darkness and ghosting would fade the longer the TV was left on, and would eventually dissappear. The darkness however seemed to be getting worse day by day and moved further into the center of the screen. My previous searches led me to suspect the TCon so I replaced this, but it made no difference. The only other tip I could find was to "twist" the frame...

• Re: echostar hds-600

@Agent24.
Nooo.... I think you may be right.
Had it running for two days now, but each day I have had trouble powering it up in the morning. Turning on from standby shows Checking hdd... for a long while. Usually takes 2 or 3 attempts to finally get it booted. I suspect, like you said, a bad cap still, and taking a while to build enough charge before it can power the HDD enough. Shame.
Going to turn off the standby feature for now, but I guess I will need to buy and attempt to replace all the caps. Problem is working out which ones....
