    Westinghouse DW39F1Y1 LED backlight voltage

Working on power supply, problem no led backlights on when powered on. Could only find one other post about this tv.

PSU has 12v stby, it will turn on and off with remote or button. LED changes from red to blue.

Voltage at led connection is 26v in stby, then at power on jumps to 85v then drops to 26v. I'm assuming the voltage is supposed to go that high as the top cap in the line of three is 100v ( it's on the led output circuit) and other 2 are 35v.

My question. Is 26v on led connector @ stby right?

Do the led strips in most tv's run that high voltage wise?

It looks like simple boost converter circuit to drive just one string of the LED.
Did you see the LED even flash on for seconds?
You should remove the LED string connector then check each pin on that connector of the LED string ( not the connector on the PCB) against the chassis to see if it shows any resistance to Ground.

Re: Westinghouse DW39F1Y1 LED backlight voltage

I did not think to check for short to ground. I did check led circuit ohms and got a reading of .537 mohm on 2m scale on my meter.

Led's have not flashed even once while trying to power on. Tried the flashlight trick but could not see or hear anything.

Can the led string ohms actually be checked at the wiring connector? I just realized the .537 reading was my fingers touching the probes to the wires inserted in the led string connector.

      No short to chassis though.

We are looking to see if the wires to the LED assembly inside the panel may be shorted out to the chassis or not, but you have to remove the female connector from the board first and use small resistor leg to make contact with female terminals inside the connector to check the resistance against the chassis.
You cannot test the LED string to see if it has open circuit because the meter does not put out enough Voltage to turn on the LED.
You may have one or two LEDs that had gone open circuit which is a common failure.

Not shorted to chassis, but I did take it apart to check led strips and found one strip with 3 brown tinted led's on it. There are heat marks on backside of strip. One shows open the other 2 shorted.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Re: Westinghouse DW39F1Y1 LED backlight voltage

That is so sad that they move away from CCFL which requires high Voltage and creates lots of heat and uses lots of power and move to using LED which does not require high Voltage to run and yet they still cannot make it last.
You can use this method to find out if the LED string has open circuit (no current draw):

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
              by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

              Assuming...

              Hello friends,

Looking for some guidance here. The RAM voltage circuit on this motherboard keeps burning out PU301 which is a RT8231AGQW. Copy of the board with the burnt chip attached with some voltage measurements and copy of the schematics also included.

I think I've checked almost every component in the circuit, but when I change the RT8231, the laptop starts I have 1.2V on the inductor for about 10 seconds and then the RT8231 goes south and no more voltage on the inductor. All other voltages on the laptop are good, this is the only one conking out for a reason I...

Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a Panasonic LED TV which doesnt turn on and is blinking 4 times repeatedly when I turn on the switch. The TV does not respond to the remote control so I had to turn on using the physical switch on the side of the TV. When I turn on the switch the 4 x blinking starts and repeat itself until I turn off the TV. There is a black screen. I turned off the light in the room to check the panel and I think there is no backlight as far as I can tell.

I have been inspecting and testing the capacitors and diodes in the power supply board to try to...

Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays
              by sam_sam_sam
I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly

              Now...
