    Panasonic TX-P42G20 bad panel?

    Hi

I think that the problem with this set is the bad panel, but i would like second opinion
As shown on pictures problem is on the left side of tv. This black bar is spread from midlle to the left edge in width as the four connectors on C2 board (out of 7 IIRC). Tried to reseat cables on mainboard and on C2 board, but nothing happened, everything remained the same.
Also tried test patterns and mirror optinon in service menu, but the vertical bar stayed in same position. It's black bar, nothing in it, completely dead.
Well i tought that it can be C2 board problem until i noticed one black horizontal bar that is going from the left edge of the screen to aprox half of this wide vertical bar. I don't think that it could be buffer connector on SD/SU board (it would be across whole screen)?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

Yeah you'd wonder what the chances of an area sideby side going but seeing that line suggests panel damage/shorted?

No chips/cracks in that area? Odd fault...

Wel i tried to find some, but no, there isn't any (although it was my first guess to...). I'll try to check it once more.
Don't know if it is smart move to buy a C2 buffer board, but i doubt it is really?

The pic that shows the deop down menu. Is it in the vertical black section of the other pics? If the menu works in the black verical section then the screen shoud be good and the Main board is bad

Ya I'm confused. Pic 2 looks like it has the service menu overlaying the bad area ?

              Re: Panasonic TX-P42G20 bad panel?

No, service menu isn't shown on bad area, look at LSI DATA line and you will se the number 5 cut at half
No chips/cracks on panel, so conclusion is bad panel I assume?
At least all boards are OK (except maybe C2) so it will go for parts...

Reattaching new edge to edge LCD panel to tv frame - Hisense 55a6g and others
                by mecha1166
Some new tvs have an LCD screen attached to the outside of the frame with foam tape. These are "edge to edge" as they are called. I am trying to figure out how to reattach an LCD panel back up to the frame. The manufacturer used 3/16 inch foam tape along the top and rh/lh edges. I used a razor blade to separate the panel from the metal frame. The metal frame that the panel is taped to is 1/4 inch wide along the 2 sides and top. I completely removed the residue from the metal frame. There is some residue on the panel itself along the 3 edges, I removed almost all of it using alcohol and...

                Vizio M60-C3 Left Edge problem
                by Pinky Deepak
I have a M60-C3 where the left edge has started showing issues as seen in the picture attached. Along with this, I also noticed some darkening on the left half of the screen which went away after I left the TV unplugged. i initially thought it was the led backlight that was wearing out but looks like something to do w the TCONN board. I searched this forum but couldn't find anyone else seeing this issue. most of them were LH/RH completely gone. any insights or guidance is appreciated.

Here's a video of both the issues: https://youtu.be/hMqc760nB3o

                TCL 49S405 double image
                by howardc64
LCD displays a 2nd image slighty offset vertically. And multiple pairs of black lines along the bottom. Probably common as google "TCL 49S405 double image" pulls up this ifixit post ( link ) with identical ( nearly, but their fault seems to be on the other half of the panel than mine ) problem without solution.

This one looks to be a more difficult to diagnose because most? of TCON seems integrated ( CSOT BGA on buffer baord) into the left panel edge board ( looking from rear of TV) There are 2 buffer boards for each 1/2 of the screen. Main connects to the left buffer board...

                • main board has integrated T-Con
                • main board T-Con has LCD DCDC/PMIC RT6950GQW QFN68 package. Richtek chip. Can't find datasheet. Chip generates VADD (10.44V), VGH (~28V), VGL (~-14.5V)
                • RT6950 pin 18-19 (clockwise) appeared to be bridged. Unlikely from my probing, looks like ball squeezage so it probably got hot
                • Cleaned up bridging. Pin 17 is VGL (-14V) Pin 20 is VGH (28V). Pin 18 (I think 19 too) jumps between VGL and VGH voltage

Panasonic Tx-40cx400b top left half screen not displaying correct
                by armoured_smiler
                Hi,

Trying to work out if this is TFT problem or TCon issue.
The TV powers up but the top half of the screen, from the right it is OK, but as you look across to the left halfway across it starts get duller and duller until it is very dark on the lefthand side, currently I trying to clean the remote as it seems to have something film wise on the pads stopping it from registering buttons pressed.

Also when changing the screen size of Windows PC display to say to a smaller pixel sizewindow, the original window displayin the top left stays/takes a few seconds to disappear?...
