Sony Bravia KDL-46W5500 replaced T-con still the same

    Hi guys,

I've been trying to troubleshoot my dad's Bravia (I'm in Australia and he is in France... skype is handy!).

Here are a couple of shots of the problem. TV is 5 years old. When first switched on it looks normal, then 5 mn later the bad picture occurs. I made him run a self test which showed a t-con error. So ordered a new one and now selft test shows no problem with the T-con but image is still bad.

We tried the freezing method with no result, we check all the connectors, rubbons, including the one soldered on the lcd and no change. We blow hot air on the different boards with no result. The power board has been check and show normal voltage.

Is there any one on that forum who knows if it could be the main board, or is it a lcd failure.

    Thanks for your help.

hello, does this mean he needs another mainboard or tcon or do you think the panel is bad?, thanks.

        Looks like a bad panel...

Open up the TV, it's involved and will take a while (> 1hr). You need to get to the ribbons on the top of the panel (between the panel and the attached panel drive pcb). This means disassembling lots of stuff in the back of the tv to get to the panel. You need to remove the metal surround holding the lcd panel to the backlight panel. Turn the tv on and get an image up then press the ribbons between the panel and that pcb with a paper card (like a business card). There is a small grove under that cable that runs along the top of the screen. Find the cable that is causing this (could be more than one). The chip on film is bad and needs a bit of pressure. Stick something on the cable between the metal frame and the top of the cable and screw it back down. Have tried this on many KDL46'ers and the previous models 46X3100, 46W3100 etc..

Warnings though, there's a lot to go wrong. Too much pressure in the wrong spot and you risk cracking the screen. Any slipping when turning this unit over while in a disassembled state also risks cracking the panel. Mains is present and needs to be on while the TV is open and on it's back and it's dangerous as well as the high voltage bits supplying the backlights. You need two people (one that can resus if necessary) to move this unit unless you have a rotating frame made for this. Sometimes the metal screw locations are just too far away to guarantee pressing support, so you need to get creative with the metal and plastic (maybe add one).

seems similar to loose tab bond issues.

This is not a tab bond issue it is plain jane panel failure, like every Samsung based TV...

The ribbons around the lcd have all been tested and do not show any change when pressured.

What is strange is how it takes a bit more of 5 minutes after the TV is turned on for the lcd to show the symptoms. At the beginning the bad image starts on the right side and slowly appear on all the frame. If contrast and luminosity is set to the minimum, then the image remains good.

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
                        by Daren87
                        Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

Sony KD-70X690E Bravia; Bad TCON? Bad panel?
                        by swrb898
What's wrong with my TV: the TCON, the panel, or something else? I'm stuck.

                        Problem:

Last week, my Sony KD-70X690E 70" stopped displaying a picture. The TV powers on, and the back lights power on. However, the TV doesn't seem to boot up. I say this because the SONY splash-screen logo does not display, nor does any picture display, nor can I invoke a menu by pressing "Menu" on the remote. Other than back-light bleed, the screen is black.

My troubleshooting got me this far:

With the left-hand TCON to bottom-board ribbon cable...

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
                        by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

                        Sony KD-55X9000F TCON Issue
                        by thelankanguy
The TV shows a black screen with no image.
TCON ribbon connectors were disconnected individually for image and there was no half image even.
Later both ribbons were disconnected and TCON voltages were tested.
12V, 3.3V, 1.8V were seen present but VONE signal reads 0V.
There is also a short to ground in this circled inductor.
Is this a TCON issue or something else ?...

                        Sony KD-55AG9 TCON?
                        by bbrain
                        Hi,

I have this problem with my Sony 55' AG9.
                        It flashes 4x.
I have found the service manual, and seems it is the TCON.

Before I buy a TCON can someone check the vid?

                        Thanks in advance!...
