Vizio E371VL no power, no amber

Vizio E371VL, 2 years old, no amber VIZIO light when plugged in, and no other indications of power. I assumed a bad Power Board and replaced it...same results. I tested voltage going into the PS Board and 120v AC is there going in and out of the fuse. The cable connecting the PS Board to the Main Board shows a fluctuating voltage between 0 and 5v DC on pin 1. When I remove the cable, I then get a solid 5v DC, but no 12v reading on the 12v pins. So...I'm thinking the problem must surely be in the Main Board. Any ideas where/what to test on the Main Board to isolate the problem? Or any other ideas? A picture of the Main Board is attached. Thanks.

The switched 12V will not be present until the main board sends out PS_ON to turn on the main power supply (12V, and 24V).
It sounds like the main board is drawing too much current and causes the 5VSTBY to go into start-up/shutdown mode, try to find the cause of the problem down to component level is not going to be easy especially without the diagram.

OK, thanks for the quick response. So you think I should just go ahead and replace the Main Board, and not try to isolate further since we have no wiring diagrams?

There are more than one version of this model:
        http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...q=Vizio+E371VL
It is also know for having bad EEPROM.
You can contact shopjimmy about the main board to see what they suggest, they are really good on helping the customer, it is my main supplier for boards.

Yes, I have used ShopJimmy and agree with you. I checked and they do have a board for around $80, but they are not taking tech questions (likely due to the season). So I was hoping there might be a "popular" failure point for this board with this symptom. The board is 3637-0782-0150. I'll likely go ahead and order the board. Thanks again.

So did the main board fix your issue? I have a set with the same issues and same main board, has 5 volt standby when main board is unplugged but as soon as you plug it in, the 5 volts leaves, unplug the main board and power cord the reapply power cord then 5 volts is back while main board is disconnected

Update, I just checked the power supply and used 2 resistors to force the power supply on. The backlights and all voltages working on the power supply...I am thinking I just got a bad main board even though it was suppose to have been a good and checked board, I will post back if the main board fixes the problem, I am gonna return this one first this Monday

Try having just the main board and power supply supply board connected together without other boards connected to the main board to see if the 5VSTBY will be present or not.
You can also check the resistance of the main board 5VSTBY pin and GND pin to see if it shows very low resistance or not.

Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

LG 55NANO77SRA TV – Menu scrolling by itself even after removing button board (Main Board EBU66792103)

                    Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help with a persistent issue on an LG TV model 55NANO77SRA, which uses the main board EBU66792103 (also used in LG UQ80 and NANO75/NANO80 series).

                    🧩 Problem Summary:
                    • The TV keeps scrolling through the menu or selecting items by itself.
                    • I removed the physical button board (the entire panel with power and volume buttons) and also disconnected the flat cable (CN202) from the main board.
                    • The remote control is not in use (batteries removed), and the TV still shows the same behavior.
                    • I

                    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
                    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
                    CN6401
                    Pin 01 NC
                    Pin 02 NC
                    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
                    Pin 04 "N/C"
                    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
                    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
                    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

(SOLVED) - ONN 100012588 No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

                    ONN 100012588
Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

Short answer: replace main board and power board
Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

                    Long answer:

TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...
