You can look and see if it uses the same ICS, then use your scope to look at the ripple voltage on those TOKIN caps.

I replaced C102 (47uF 10V TONKIN NE AS7) cap in my LN32A550P3FXA and so far it is not squealing and starts up fine, I am going to let it run all night to see if that fixed it for sure.

I will work on the LN37A550P3FXVA and LN46A550P3FXA next to see if it will fix the same problem too.
It will be great to get all 3 fixed tonight!

Could not have done with the help from SHOPJIMMY website.
I also replaced C131 which on the top side of the board and it is the exact same type of cap so if one went bad, another one may go out too.

The peak to peak should be in mV range, it will be high frequency ripple.

Should I measure at the input connector(from the PS), or just at these regulators?

You will measure the waveform on the two legs of the filter cap (the NE AS7 cap). Does it use the same cap and IC as used in the A series?

Bud,

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the replacement capacitors for C102 and the one on the top of the board as well? I have several of these boards with both the squealing and/or rebooting problem but cannot seem to locate a source for those capacitors.

I get KEMET polymer from MOUSER.
I was able to fixed all 3 model, the 32, 37, and the 46 A550P3 series last week and still burning them in.

Thanks bud. I found a link to the Panasonic equivalent in another thread at digikey. Although they were out of stock, that gave me a part number to search for which lead me to mouser. I've never ordered from them but know they are a reputable source. Hopefully the come quick so I can give these a shot. Seems there is quite a number of models that use that same board layout.

Either one of these two for NEC-TOKIN caps.
You can temporary solder 100uF 10V low ESR in parallel with the C102 to see if it will solve the problem, mines did.

Same/similar fault occurs with the Samsung 'Bordeaux' mainboard (Gawd knows the board number!)--But its the two surface-mount 1000uF 10V caps under the tin-work near the main processor....

Seen 3 in recent weeks....

I had an issue with this TV not turning on it would just play the boot tone and stop.

I replaced C102 and C131 with 60V 47uf caps (All I had on hand).
The TV now boots up but i get moving lines only on the top portion of display.
They will go away when moving the bezel but will come back shortly after.
Occasionally it will stop once warmed up 10-15 minutes.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

Same squealing/screeching audio, power cycling with torn frozen green/blue/red pixelated video. Has been degrading more and more over the last month (would cycle itself 10+ times)

Used a 100uF 16v Cap
Ran in parallel with C102 - 47uf 10V (NEr AS7)
Works great (See image below).



Now, how long will this hold out for?
should I remove the bad C102?
Can I safely run this until a replacement cap arrives (with or without C102)?
