    Re: Bad power supply

I would maybe try my luck with this core if I had to buy one:

But you are better off salvaging an inductor from any other board that has a SMPS on it.

paulstef's post #16 on this thread is very instructional and I find that I get more out of it every time I read it. He is obviously a very technically competent person and likely the product of a good school system. This post, in my view, is in the best tradition of this forum. Thanks to paulstef for posting this.

          Re: Bad power supply

Just as a note I received a couple of RCA rldedv3988-A and in 2 of them there is a board AY075C-1SF14-080 that is identical to the AY068C-1SF22 i tried it in the TV and it works great the L1 inductor is a different kind its horizontal and if i look on ebay its called radial. It is the only part in the board that is different so I guess Curtis knows it was a problem and upgraded the boards accordingly. If anyone knows where i could get either board please let me know.

this tv has same boards as well, only difference i can see from pictures is cx1 on the board is missing from the ay068c-1sf22-b

nevermind its in pauls youtube video list already. sorry

ok i need help, but im shy and nooby. I soldered on this board and its missing 2 pads now from the transistor i put in for lowering the led current.
And a new turoid core which also had its pad burned off. but everything seems like there is still hope because i can hear static coming from the transistor i put in. Led is blinking red
              i used 4.7 ohm / 4R7 - 1 watt 1W - 5% - Carbon Film Resistors and Toroid Core Inductor Wire Wind Wound 150uH 42mOhm 5A Coil

and this tv suck 8( bought from hhrgreg and it didnt even come with a manual or a stand and it only lasted 2 months

                  Re: Bad power supply

OK, so I got this TV with the burnt coil. I do not have any way to test a coil so I need some help. Does it really matter what size coil I use? I was thinking a thicker wire with the same amount of wraps but I guess you have to add wraps if you have a thicker wire. It seems everything else is good, just the coil desoldered from the board. It is toasted. Black and the board is burnt. I added some pictures.
If someone can post a link to the correct coil. If I don't find one soon I may buy the kit from eBay.

Also should I add some resistors to lower the current?
