I think tomorrow I'm going to try to solder just the side that has the + going to it... I guess we'll see if it lights up or fries...

Well neither of the soldering irons I had available could cut the mustard, anyone know a source that would have the led backlight strip? I figure it's gotta be replaceable...

I'm having the exact same issues/symptoms as you with my Sanyo dp46142. I have replaced the power board, the back light now shuts off around 30 mins instead of 5-10mins. Did you ever figure out the problem? What board didn't you replace?
