Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
LOL! I'm sorry your blind now. I guess I'm not following how your talking about putting them back on... Would getting them hot and breaking them in half, um, break them?

Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
I'm lost there, I couldn't tell you how long/wide they are, but they appear to be the same type as that bottom set you posted. Are there different sizes of that type?
I will pull it apart either tonight or tomorrow morning and see if I can get a measurement on them...

Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
They are identical to the ones on the bottom...
Here's a close up...
iirc, I was told they are 3.2v but I'm pretty clueless when you get that far into it.
Here's a link to my first thread hunting this down... if it's helpful.

Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
Edge... it's kinda odd, only on left side of panel, and under a metal plate... it seems they are just glued to the metal cover.
here's a not so great pic.
I don't think that shows quite the full length, but close. (I just found this pic, I'm sure it would've been helpful earlier.)

Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
No. I gotta pull it back apart and see if it's labeled. I know it's a samsung panel LTA460HN05-T02
but my searches for that have been fruitless.

Re: sourcing led backlight strips...
First off, thank you all for your responses. So much info here that cleared up many things for me.
Ok I want to say there are more than 16 leds, I've tried looking for them on ebay with no success for my model, that would be ideal honestly, but I just want the damn thing to work. I've got 2 driver boards and it acts the same with both (just flicker of backlight at startup)
aliexpress is something I'll have to check out and see if it's something I can swing... I've been able to identify it's a samsung panel and all...Last edited by hicksvilleshick; 01-15-2015, 09:31 PM.

sourcing led backlight strips...
Seeking suggestions on finding either a replacement for my sanyo dp46142 or a place to get a strip that will work to just light it up and plug in separately.
This tv functions other than the backlight, and while we've found the bad led on the backlight strip, and tried to jump it and those have failed, still just flashes the backlight on startup but it won't stay on...
Thanks.

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
Well neither of the soldering irons I had available could cut the mustard, anyone know a source that would have the led backlight strip? I figure it's gotta be replaceable...

Re: Help diagnosing a Samsung DLP? SP50L7HX
I'd lean toward the color wheel..
I've got a samsung 50" DLP. I love it, most reliable hd tv I've got, my color wheel makes noise occasionally, but this tv gets alot of use... I think I'm on my 3rd bulb, but I've had no other issues... outside of the bulbs the most common issues I've found with these tv's (in my research) is the color wheels.

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
I think tomorrow I'm going to try to solder just the side that has the + going to it... I guess we'll see if it lights up or fries...
I might report results...unno:

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
well took out the bad led, cleaned the paths, put it back together and same result, backlight flashes at startup but won't stay on.
So now I guess I need to jump the pins where the led was right? it had 4 legs off it, so what do I jump? I have traced the paths and this led board has 1 + and 4-, the 4 - go to 4 different sections of the led board.
So I guess I'm wondering if I just solder the + to the - or what? do I have to mess with the pads where the other 2 legs off the led were going? do I jump them too or leave them...

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
Ok thanks bud, I'll see if I can come up with a resistor to try that with. I'm also being told I can just jump it and see if the backlight comes on and stays on... I'm drawing a blank as to what I may have that I can use to jump that...

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
Said screw it and tore it down to where I followed the wires from the driver board were going... Promptly stripped out one of the phillips heads holding the metal and had to drill that out... was fun. Here's what I found.
So I ask, can that one be bypassed? I'm guessing it's bad/damaged, I can't definitively say if a screwdriver got to it or not, but I don't recall having to pry on anything this deep into the tv. Whats the fix here?

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
we tore it all the way down to where we got shaky enough to stop as we didn't want to separate something that wasn't supposed to be.... when we got to where we could pull the clear panel away I panicked and we put it back. lol

Re: sanyo dp46142 backlight issue.
Yeah that sounds like sense.
Can anyone point me to how to get to and troubleshoot the leds? I'd pull the trigger on a new powersupply if I could rule out the leds...
