Does anyone have the firmware for this TV?
It freezes with the Vizio logo splash screen on the screen at power on.
I have checked all the supply voltages on the main board. Since it has gotten this far in the turn on process, the Xilleon x243 processor must be running.
So I am assuming that it either 1) has corrupted firmware for the Xilleon x243 (stored in a 128kbyte NAND flash) or
2) It is checking/waiting for some other subsystem that is not responding.
First order of business is to see if I can update the firmware (which might not be possible depending on where in the startup sequence it is freezing), and if so, does it fix the problem.
This main board also has a Weltrend WT61P8 microcontroller (U407) which runs during standby and receives the IR remote and side panel control inputs, and also controls the HDMI ports. The WT61P8 has its own built in 64k flash memory and thus I assume firmware. It is labelled the "CEC uP" in the block diagram. Can anyone tell me what "CEC" stands for?
There are 6 small M24C02 serial EEPROMS on the mainboard. Five of them are for the four HDMI parts and the DSUB port, and are specified on the BOM as generic EEPROMS. The last one (U409) is associated with the WT61P8 MCU and is a special part on the BOM, suggesting that it is pre-programmed.
I would replace the MCU EEPROM, but none of the ebay vendors of Vizio eeproms offer one for this TV.
In addition to the USB port, there is a service port on the mainboard that provides I2C protocol access to the MCU.
I have the Service Manual with all the schematics.
If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it. I'm sure this is repairable with the appropriate information.
