  • Re: Vizio VA370M looking for firmware bin file

Well, I tried with Vizio Live chat, but the agent said that they only have firmware updates to send out, and if there are no issues with the original firmware, then there is no update to send. There is no update available for the VA370M. Grrrr!

I suppose I can call their repair guys and ask.

Thanks for that tip Juiced. I will give it a try.
The email route so far was unsuccessful, as I just got an email back telling me to contact their certified repair partners.

    Thanks for the info Tom.

Do you have an educated guess as to the likelihood that a fresh flash of the firmware will fix this?

I have a support request into Vizio for the firmware. Fingers crossed.

  • Vizio VA370M looking for firmware bin file

    Vizio VA370M
    serial number LTZPFIBK4700661
    November 2009
    Mainboard: CBPF9D1KZ7
    Panel: LC370WUE (SB) (B1)

Does anyone have the firmware for this TV?

It freezes with the Vizio logo splash screen on the screen at power on.

I have checked all the supply voltages on the main board. Since it has gotten this far in the turn on process, the Xilleon x243 processor must be running.

So I am assuming that it either 1) has corrupted firmware for the Xilleon x243 (stored in a 128kbyte NAND flash) or
    2) It is checking/waiting...

Where do you get the 7500K lumileds? I only see 6500K at digikey and mouser.

I'm impressed with your hot plate rework of all 200 LEDs. That is hard core.

Do you have much longevity data on the lumileds in this application?...

    tw2005,
To check the power supply and the backlights on your set with the 428b power supply, you need to follow the instructions in the quick start guide for the 6900 posted by Toms66.

Just use the forum search box above and search for a post with "quick start guide 6900" and you will get right to that post. Basically you unplug the main board from the ps board, but then you have to jumper the 5V (or ground I forget which) to the PWM_ON pins to check each set of back lights in turn.

    If the backlights turn...

    Audioplus,
I may have need for the LED strips out of your UN55D6000 with the cracked panel. If you still have it, don't throw it away. The LED strips are worth something!

    Audioplus,
I have no idea why changing out the PS and Main board on your UN55D6000SF brought the backlight back to life. The only thing I can guess is that the "backlight failure detection" circuit on your new PS board is less sensitive, and you have a backlight LEDs are on the edge but not yet gone.

Did you try all combinations of PS with the "new" main board? I am curious if it ONLY works with both the "new" main and PS from the UN55D6050.

I have studied the schematic for the BN44-00428b...

    Another one:
    KSC2328AYTACT-ND
Again a higher maximum current version, but looks about the same over the current range of the original 2SC2120-Y.

From a small sample, it looks like the transistors with p/n beginning with K have the ECB pinout. The ones beginning with B have the CBE pinout. But it is a very small sample.

    Caleb,
This one looks like it will work.
    Digikey p/n 2SC3940ASACT-ND

It appears to be a higher power/current version of the original transistor.
Although the curves are given over a wider range of Ic, they look to be very similar over the lower Ic ranges to the original transistor. And the pinout is right.

Thank you for noticing that! I didn't catch it.

  • Sony KDL-32L4000 chassis CZ1 No red standby LED but otherwise works

    Hi all,
A minor issue but I thought I would ask...

I have a Sony KDL-32L4000, north american chassis CZ1. It came to me with a bad A (main) board, with the symptoms:
    1) No standby LED light when plugged in
    2) Green LED turns on via top button or remote, but no backlight or picture.

Initially I thought is was the G (power supply) board, but that checked out OK. When I disconnected the A board connector for the backlight control, the backlights lit up just fine, but still no picture. I think I have located the problem stalling the power-on process for...

  • Re: Emerson LC320EM2 No power after Kit Replacement

    Hi David,

Do you still have a 1.8 ohm resistor substituted for R608? If so, that may very well be the culprit. With a value that high, you may be generating a high enough voltage on R608 that you would shut off Q600 too quickly via the path R608, D607, Q601. Anything above 1.2 V peak on R608 should start to turn Q601 on, thus shutting Q600 off. This would correspond to only 0.67 A peak current through Q600 with your 1.8 ohm resistor. If true, this would explain why your secondary side standby voltages...

    paulstef,
I realize that you already basically said the same thing in your step 6 above that I just repeated in my response to Tom in the previous message.

The jumper from the resistor chain R603, R604, R600 is labelled on the board as "Start". So my feeling is that this path is only needed when you first plug in the TV. Here is the process in detail as I see it:

    1) Plug in TV, primary DC charges up across C602, Q600 gate starts to rise through "Start" resistor...

    Tom,
I really appreciate the analysis you provided, but have a question.

I am thinking that the primary mechanism to turn off Q600 in each oscillation is from the mirror winding (T600 pin 8) through zener D605 (4.3V) and R607 to the base of Q601. I expect that R608 is functioning more as an overcurrent protection, as it would need to be at least 1.2V so that the signal through D607 back to the base of Q601 would be high enough to turn it on and shut off Q600. That would correspond to a current...

    Caleb,
I am working on my first one of these A17F8MPW power supply inverter boards. I think a good replacement for Q601 is BC33725BU-ND available from digikey. Look it up and let me know what you think. I have not tried one of these yet, I am just going by the specs.

  • Samsung BN44-00192A power board whistling SOLVED

    Hi all,
Just learned something that may be helpful to others and didn't see it discussed here before so...

I recently repaired a BN44-00192A power board from a Samsung LNT3253HX/XAA (this board and it's similar brethren are common to many smaller Samsung LCD TVs).

After correcting the conductive/burnt glue that was the main problem, and replacing all the large electrolytic caps on the cold side (a couple were bulging/obviously bad), the power supply and the TV were working fine again, all voltages were within spec, it started up every time, etc. However there was...

  • Source for RM801 fusible resistor 0.22 ohm 1 W, Samsung BN44-00192A PS board

    Hi everyone,
I just fixed a BN44-00192A power supply board for a Samsung 32 inch LCD TV in great part relying upon the collective wisdom of this forum, so thanks very much!

In my case, the fusible resistor RM801 was blown. This is the fusible resistor that connects and protects the primary line upconvert circuit from a short in the main switching supply circuit.

I have not been able to find a source for a suitable replacement for RM801, which is supposed to be a 0.22 ohm, 1W fusible resistor. Digikey has a listing for a Yageo part with these specs but no stock...
