LG 55UP7000PUA washed out and dim

So I've got this 55UP7000PUA that has a very washed out and dim image. I've played with all of the settings, turned brightness to 100 as well as panel backlight, made sure no eco settings are on, etc. It looks like the backlight is at 50% or even less. I've been reading online that this is a pretty bad model with poor contrast and image retention issues, but I haven't seen anyone say it's dim like this. I've seen quite a few LGs with bad backlights before and they are usually blue. This doesn't appear blue, just washed out and dim. I've likewise never seen ANY backlights simply dim as a failure. But, could it be that they are failing? Or could it be weak capacitors or even a faulty panel? I haven't removed the back yet. I plan to check the voltage on the backlights and maybe even hook my tester up to them to see if they draw the same voltage.

The attached photos don't even do it justice; they even look brighter than the actual tv does.

Did you try the different picture modes?

Guess it's most likely backlight failure, easy to get there in 4 years if it has been run at 100% all along.

After trying the usual picture settings, factory reset, firmware update. Post some pictures of the boards to see what we're dealing with. Can try a simple reset, probably won't solve but won't hurt, unplug from power hold power button in for 42 seconds, plug back in and try it.

I did try all of the picture modes and even cranked the brightness to 100 on top of backlight at 100. I did not try a factory reset though, but the firmware did update and there was no change after.

I am going to pull the back off tomorrow and look at the power supply. It really does seem like a low voltage scenario. I'm also going to check the voltage at the backlight plug and then disconnect them and put my tester on then to see if they draw the same voltage.

looks fine here ..if it bothers you that much try factory reset then ask how to to turn it down

                  New Toy UNI-T UTi260B - What Settings?
                  by RetroComputingGrotto
I've literally just received in the post a UNI-T UTi260B (it's currently on charge).

After quickly scanning the user manual I see there are all sorts of configurable settings (Measurement settings, Palette settings, Point temperature settings and Image Mode). As this is my first Thermal Imaging Camera I have no idea what all these settings are nor if I need to change/configure any of them.

I intend/hope to use this to help me diagnose issues with laptop motherboards so should I just leave the settings as the default or is there someone out there with a UNI-T thermal...

Elitebook 820 G3 engineering example: CMOS settings lost despite new cell
                  by i440bx
                  Hey there,

I got a HP Elitebook 820 G3 Engineering Sample Laptop and I want to use it. Besides the difficult things at the ES-BIOS I have a big problem by saving the main BIOS settings.

The laptop does not have a big battery because it was dead, but I already plugged in a new CMOS battery.

It takes about 5min without power and the BIOS settings are lost. Unfortunatly I dont understand why the BIOS settings are only saved with power connected and this is the reason why I registered here.

As written above, I plugged in a new CMOS cell and checked...

Asus ROG Ally X -RC72LA - changed hidden bios settings with 'Smokeless-UMAF', won't get past boot logo

ASUS ROG Ally X - (Handheld Gaming PC)
                  Model No: RC72LA
                  Serial No: SBNVKD001014459

Hi all, I've spent the past week digging through the forums and guides to try correct my foolish mistake of changing hidden settings while tinkering around, and to be honest my heads overloaded so I'm hoping you'll be able to help.

I used a tool called 'Smokeless-UMAF' to access usually hidden settings in the bios. I tweaked one or two 'safe' things but made the mistake of tweaking a lot of settings under 'USB/Thunderbolt Configurations' when I didn't know what they did. For...

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
                  by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

                  I made the following tests:
                  1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
                  2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

                  VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
                  by bpcannan
                  'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...
