Unfortunately, the service manual is no help. https://research.encompass.com/SON/rr/XR55A80J.pdf
Looking at SJ, it lists the correct main board (A5026207A) matching mine, but for TCON, they list 6380E while the one in my set is 6380F - But I'm not sure if this is a later model or if 6380E is the only compatible (all other numbers on the TCON - LE550PQL(HP)(A4), 6870C-0848C ... match)Comment

I must have missed that request - I can hear the melody of the TV as I press various buttons on the remote. Applying a source and being able to select that source without the display is difficult. I tried, and no luck.
Just so I understand, what does this tell us if we know the Main board is responsive to remote (volume, home screen,..)?Comment

ARC HDMI will be automatic detected from TV.. look after ARC over all HDMI PortsComment

Ideally with unlimited funds, that would be great. The set at SJ is $196... not willing to spend that much to try

Plugged a ROKU into HDMI3 (ARC) and not being auto detected. I tried with my other Sony xbr-65x900f, it does detect but doesn't switch automatically to that input.Comment

1) there is no other solution for me except get only a tcon card but its less safe, the unused cards can be resell 2) there is not only source of SJ, in the 2nd hand market a cracked panel can cost 100 euro (100$~?) or the less.. and a brand new oled tv can cost 900-1000 Euro ($?)Last edited by Davi.p; Today, 07:52 AM.Comment

yes, also because you did reset.. so move the DIY on T-CON and disconnect the MB and LVDS both and do again PSU-T-CON-Panel standalone, let see what the screen will show this time after resetComment

by matwanHello,
I have problem with SONY 55X90J. After several check status is as below;
1. Running power board as stand alone:
TCON_12V =~ 12.6V
EVDD V On Max 24V= 19V.
2.Running power board with TCON as stand alone:
Effect as below, attched.
3. When bottom LVDS cable is disconnected no blinks, but of course no TCON 12V and EVDD.
"I'm almost sure it's a defective panel, but maybe someone has encountered a similar issue on their screen.
Best regards.... -
Hi everyone! I am a new member and am new to electronics repair. I have a background in electrical engineering, but little experience in electronics.
I have a Sony XR-77A80K which will not turn on and has 5 blinking red lights in the stand-by light. I had previously done a forced factory reset, which removed the error code, and the TV regained functionality for a few weeks. I repeated the factory reset and again regained functionality. This happened a few times until I so I had to begin troubleshooting the error.
Observations:

by GoodCapDudeHi everyone. First post on Badcaps!
I am trying to fix a Sony 940E from 2017 that either starts normally (and works perfectly until turned off) or goes straight to the 6 blinks error code without showing anything on the screen. It is frustrating to know that it can still work perfectly but is barely usable because of the difficulty starting it up. I am willing to try to short the BL_ERR but I would like to avoid that if possible. Does anyone have a view on this? Thanks a lot.... -

by GlavalHello, my Aunt recently gave me her broken Sony XBR-65A8G OLED after getting a replacement. It had a 4x led flash error, a replacement T-con didn't fix the error but with helpful info from this forum I found one of the smd ceramic caps on the panel pcb (C575/C378) on a 24v line was shorted to ground. I removed that cap and the tv turned on without error. It still had a black screen with the original t-con back in it, once I put the replacement t-con in it finally had a picture. After doing a panel refresh it had a very good picture but with a few vertical lines for some scenes. For owners with...3 Photos
