Since we are looking for very low resistance due to shorted circuit, set you meter to Ohm mode, and take the reading between the two inner pin, and then between the two outer pins, make sure to note to readings if they are in Ohms or K Ohms, or M Ohms, TV not plugged in of course.

So what you want me to do is take the positive on one inner leg, and the negative onto the other inner leg and give you the reading? then take the pos probe and put it on an outer leg and take the negative probe and stick it on the other outer leg and give you a reading correct?

if that is correct then with the pos probe on the negative leg (outer leg) and the neg probe on the other outer leg (+) It starts going down from a number and ends up around 5.50 M ohms

and ohm resistance ? (is that how you say it?) between the two inner legs are .4 ohms. Please correct my terms because I would like to be able to speak this later.

OK, make it pin 1, 2, 3 ,4 I want the reading between pin 2 and 3 (inner pins), and reading between pin 1 and 4 (outer pins)

              between 2 and 3 is .4 ohms.

between 1(+) and 4(-) keeps going until 0.L reading if pos. probe is on the 1 pin and neg. probe is on the 4 pin. if neg probe is on + pin and pos probe is on - pin then I get a bunch of weird readings (some start from negative reading and go up to around 4.40 M Ohms - most consistent reading is 4.4 m ohms

remove the bridge from the board? How do I do that if there are four legs, and only one solder gun.

The easiest way to check a bridge rectifier is to check that 120
vac is on the two innermost pins and that you have a good dc output on the two outermost pins 190 vdc big output cap charges 1.414 X the 120 vac input

how do I check that if it blows a main fuse everytime I put a new one in? unless the bridge rectifier is before the main fuse?

I would not keep putting in the new fuse, you already know that you have very low resistance reading between the two inner pins which the AC Line and NEUTRAL are fed into those two inner pins. You need solder wick or solder sucker to remove the solder from all 4 pads.
It sounds like you do not have proper tools to work on the circuit board.

Desolder braid will be fine, you should use flux with it.

GOOD NEWS THOUGH - and this is my first time doing this. it is out - even with its little metal circular part that sits on the outside. now for the readings: 2 and 3 absolutely nothing: 0.4 ohms. 1 and 4 : 7.15 M ohms when pos. probe is on neg leg, neg probe on pos leg

OK, so pin 2 and 3 show 0.4 Ohms, so it is bad. Now just to be sure that there no shorts in the board, take the reading between the pin 2 and pin 3 solder pad, do the same for pin 1 and 4 solder pads, they should show high resistance, the pin 1 and 4 may show low resistance until the cap is charge up by the meter. Hopefully it will be just the bridge and the thermistor, but you still have to find out the original problem, you should find out how much the replacement board will be.

when I put the positive probe on the positive leg (1) and the negative probe on the negative leg (4) It keeps going up by .01 every second.
