Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my problem and help me out any way that you can in advance. My problem is that i have an Insignia LCD that had a problem of when you plug it in to the wall, it powers up and the back lights flash one time then the red light on the front of the set goes solid and i'm assuming its in either a protection mode or stand by mode. Anyhow i remove the back cover and i started to trouble shoot, the only thing i have found out so far is that if you unplug the back light inverters the tv comes on just fine and plays audio and puts a picture on the screen(although not visible without back light) so i proceeded to try to narrow it down to one back light. I kept the master plugged in and disconnected the Slave and viola! it came on and functioned "correctly" for the most part, it came on then the back light shut off so i had to turn it off and on a few times and i was able to watch it for the rest of the night. Now with the same setup, i went to turn it on this evening and it came on normally but then the back light shut off again(only master still plugged in) but i noticed that if i changed inputs and put it on the blue screen where there wasn't any input detected that it would come to life, almost like you twisted an old fluorescent light bulb to get it to come on. Anyways, i ordered a replacement set of inverters off ebay that are guaranteed to work and they did the same thing. I'm really hoping that this is just a bad resistor or bad cap, but i see nothing visible on the PSU other than a slightly discolored area under the main transformer(?), any help would be greatly appreciated, i know it's not the greastest TV but on a low budget its really all ive got. Thanks again!

Can we see the whole back side of the TV so we can see how all the boards are connected and also the pictures of the inverter boards?Never stop learning

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
Hmm, I am surprised that you are able to run the TV with just the master inverter, I would expect the inverter to go into protection shutdown mode.

Those white connectors on the right side of the board, some of them I cannot read the label next to them. I am looking for INVR_ON/OFF (or BL_ON).
Can you take closed up pictures of those connectors so I can see what the labels are?Never stop learning

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
BL_EN is the backlights on signal pin to turn on the backlights circuits, when TV is off, it should be <1Vdc, when the TV is it will be >2.5Vdc for backights to come on + dimming signals.Never stop learning

If it is still there and the 24V is also present at the inverter conector, then the problem is in the invereter boards (MASTER and SLAVE).Last edited by budm; 09-14-2014, 03:46 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
The only thing that makes that hard to believe is that this is a different set of inverter boards and they do the exact same thing as the other ones did. I guess these are bad as well although they were guaranteed to work.... One other question, at the inverter board i have pins called BR11 BR12 SW1 and SW2 and voltages are as follows when inverter board not functioning but TV on:
BR11- 0V
SW1- 4.4V
BR12- 2.8V
SW2- 2.9V
Are these normal?

Which are the two inverter boards you have in your set? SJ has good pictures that can see things better.

I suspect that you have bad inverter board.Last edited by budm; 09-14-2014, 04:17 PM.Never stop learning

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
I see the ON/OFF (BL_ON) and two dimmimg controls (vbra, vbr b). BR = BACKLIGHTS DIMMING CONTROL.
http://www.shopjimmy.com/media/catal...-0613a-top.jpg
"BR11- 0V
SW1- 4.4V
BR12- 2.8V
SW2- 2.9V"
I would say is is normal.
The MASTER and SLAVE are used due to the lamps are very long for 55" TV, they cannot be driven by juts one inverter from one side of the lamp, the two works in push-pull mode to drive the lamps, if one inverter does not work, you will see half of the screen will be lit and another half will be dimmed due to lamps are not fully lit the full length of the lamps. I still do not expect the lamps to stay on if one of the inverter has failed.Never stop learning

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
Lucky me i've got a new problem. While the TV was functional with one only one inverter board running, i decided to try to hook up the other one and see if I could get them both to work, well it didnt work and now after unplugging the slave to just run the master, it only comes on for around 5 to 10 minutes sometimes longer and then shuts down, sound and all. I have a new set of inverter boards on order but this problem seems to be escalating. I plugged in the slave and master together and same problem and the Slave doesnt even light up it just plays off of the Master for the 5 to 10 minutes. I'm stumped. Anyone want a tv???

Re: Insignia NS-55L260A13 LCD TV Won't stay on
Update on my television. I ordered brand new inverter boards for it and installed them and low and behold. Same problem. TV powers on and says please wait with only half of the screen back lit then after the Please Wait... goes away the back light(s) turn off.
