hi all I have just bought a whalfdale lcd sorry I do not know model number but my problem is when turned on the screen flashs and the set goes into stand by It does this everytime I have had the back off and no blown caps I have unplugged the invertor board and the set will power up and apart from the lack of light it does not turn off as soon as the invertor board is connected it shuts off could someone tell me if it is the power board or invertor board it is a uk model 240 volts thanks

can you upload good clear pictures of the boards in your tv so we can see what were dealing with what the part numbers from the power supply board.

I will upload some tomorrow the power board is a 17pw20 v2 and inverto board is 4h.v1838.461/b it will power up until I plug in the back lights once I plug just on in it goes back into stand by

have you tested the psu voltages? do they also drop out when the backlight fails?

The 17PW20 has a few common problems that should be dealt with before looking any further, there is a cheap kit of parts available for this which might be the best option for sake of reliability. You may find this solves the problem.

all voltages are fine until I plug in the ccfl

,last one of these i did with the same symptoms was a ccfl with burnt end arcing against the supply wire,thus causing 2 secs to black issue,and shutting down the inverter

replaced most caps and I have notices a humming sound coming from somewhere but cant seem to pinpoint it

now checked all ccfl with a battery and they apper fine

yes a new power board it saved all the messing around and only £15 off ebay
