I just picked up this tv and I'm trying to fix it to give it to a family in need. I took the back off the tv and replaced the blown fuses. I took all the connections off the power supply board and plugged the tv in and the fuses were ok. I then proceeded to plug one board at a time into the power supply to see if it would blow the fuses. All the boards were ok except the component board or main board (part BN41-01344A). Do you think if I replaced the part that's blowing the fuses it will fix my problem? I'm very new to this so any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
Main board sends signal to PSU to turn on, Logic board then sends signal to bring up X & Y main boards. I don't think the Main board has any component on it that would draw enough current to blow the PSU fuse. X & Y mains do though.
Have you tried the jumper test on PSU with it disconnected from all other boards to see if it is making the correct VS & VA voltages without blowing fuse.
BTW posting a pic of front and back of PSU will help as someone may spot a problem that you might have missed. -
Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
I'm not sure how to do the jumper test. Can you help me through it? Why do you think I'm blowing a fuse when I connect the main board? The back of the main board doesn't look great. I don't see burns but there is wearing on it. My power supply looks good I don't see anything visual but I know that doesn't necessarily mean anything.Comment

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
Pics Of PSU will help, particularly the power connectors so we are able to see what pins are where and the specified voltage they are supposed to have.
Do you have a suitable multimeter to test for DC volts???
To test, if this is your PSU in link below, then unplug upper left wires to Y main, middle wires to X main, lowest right bottom wires to logic and the wires connecting to main board. Leave the connection at PSU unplug this one from Main board.
You will need this cable to jumper with a bread tie or suitably small gauge wire.
Really need pics of the connector legend to main board to be sure which pins to jumper.

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
Are you trying to turn on TV after each connection or just plugging them in then connecting power cable??
Because main board tells PSU to power up. Without it being connected the only DC output voltage on PSU should be 5V or whatever STBY volts are for your unit.Comment

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
The picture you sent me looks like the same set. I do have a good tester but I'm not good at understanding it. I will try to test the psu tomorrow to see what the board reads. Thanks a lot for your help it's greatly appreciated!Last edited by kanescubs; 08-18-2014, 09:27 PM.Comment

I'm trying to help out a family who doesn't have and can't afford a tv. It just happens to be a 58"tv that I picked up for free. They don't need it but I would like to help.Comment

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
What is the P/N on the bar code on the PSU so I can see if I can get an idea of which pins to jumper. It should have a number on it similar to this BN44-00331A.Comment

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
I checked the board and that is the number on the psu. I really appreciate you taking the time to help.Comment

Re: Samsung PN58C550 No Power question
First question, what meter do you have? Are the settings for DC volts separate 2, 20,200,600 or is it auto ranging ( just one position for DC volts )?? Actually 2 questions.
BTW here are the instructions for adding pics to the thread.>https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1868
When you click on the upload button you have to wait until it finishes the upload, it is not instantaneous.Last edited by MagicSmoke; 08-20-2014, 07:42 PM.Comment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by Destroyer-Br[HELP] Acer AN515-55 (LA-J871P Rev: 1B) – Board won't power on after GPU investigation – Suspecting Super I/O or PCH
Hi everyone,
I'm working on an Acer Nitro 5 unit with the following specs:- Motherboard: LA-J871P Rev: 1B

Initial Issue
The laptop initially presented graphic issues and driver failure (Code 43) for the GPU.
After preventive maintenance (cleaning, thermal paste, etc.), it powered on normally. We disassembled it again to inspect the GPU, reassembled... -
by NicktronicHey everyone,
This power supply board is hard to find but there are repair kits available. This board had a blown fuse, FP801S, blown PFC MOSFET, QP802CS and ceramic cap, CP809. I replaced them with parts I already had and tested the rest of the parts that would've come in the repair kit and they were fine. I powered the board up on the bench expecting, in typical Samsung power supply board fashion, to see all my output voltages but, nothing. 0 volts on CNL801, CNM801 and CNT801. The only thing I have is 170vdc on the filter caps. No standby voltage either.

by Dani_2024Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO
Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...5 Photos -
by repair-itI am attempting to test a samsung power supply board to verify the pfc ic is working. I am powering up the board with my isolation transformer. The board turns on fine but when I attempt to connect the ground for the scope probe, it trips out the isolator. I was taught not to 'float my scope' so I am wondering if I should test without connecting the ground lead or would that be asking for trouble? Not sure how else to test, I don't have a portable scope. I could plug direct to mains power but that would bypass the safety factor.
